they make expansion boards for the extreme now? they didnt when i had it
Not that I know of either I was trying to say that the original triton could be expanded with these boards such as the moss wich is the better one and orchestra/strings.My friend had these expansions so when the triton extreme came out it was basically a stock triton expanded and that tube and maybe a few things but most if not all new sounds are from those old expansion boards. So if you can find a cheap old triton buy some expansion cards and save some money..There might have been some editing features or someshit I aint aware of but being I would only use it for the sounds most that shit is useless anyways..i agree with what you said about buy one good controller and buy racks,I like the fantomx cause the pitch bend/ joystick roland makes them to last unlike the triton those always are broke or stuck from the users I know of.I have the og motif rack and will probably upgrade to the Es and get the dx card and the VL card. But I think my next peace will be the Se1 or atc by studio electronics these racks are great and I feel its nice to have at least one true analog machine and these are beasts.

the oasys is craaaaazy tho...

and most everybody ive come incontact wit (that was hella hard nosed on hardware) has made the transition...

shit... even tim uses a NEKO now.... along wit his other shit...

me personaly, im neither hardware or software biasd... i use it all... triton, mophat (another HELLA over used peice), planet phatt, reason, FL, micro korg, mc 505, albino, blue, z3ta+, battery, lounge lizzard, electric guitars, acoustic guitars, electric bass, real drums, sampled drums, farts and queefs... anything that comes my way i fuck wit..

next album is in the works on some crazy type shit tho.. yall will see... im using errything in my arsinal, and its turnn into some shit i never imagined i could acomplish wit out the help of hired instrumentalists

but the key to sounding good, i feel, is countless hours playing, composing, tweeking, learning, vibing, comparing, and FEELING your music... some times i just listen to different genres all day to try and capture what they were feeling while playing there music...

but back on subject, i think u shoud see what you can do wit 2g's worth of vst's....

People say the triton is played and the motif is already getting real tired because of the exact reason I stated. People don't take the time to learn how to utilize & program their gear so they're stuck with stock sounds or ones they copied from someone else. The fantom is less abused but I think it's only because people seem to have a harder time learning how to use them.

I like all three of those boards and if you know what you're doing, you can make beats on any of them and nobody will have any clue. The secret is CUSTOMIZING & LAYERING YOUR SOUNDS!

The Motif ES is the TRUTH !! The Fantom X-series is a beast too though...I like the user-friendliness of the Triton...but to me it sounds thin and a little cheesy. Just my .02

The Motif/Motif ES played out a while ago. When are cats going to learn about custom sounds? Probably never since most of these dudes are 'overnight beat makers'.
Most are too lazy to create their own sounds, don't know how or can't afford a good sound bank. The Motif/Motif ES did not play out a long time ago. It has outsold the fantom and triton extreme, and you and I BOTH know it is on the user and not the machine. Thats like saying a triton classic or a vintage keys module is played out. It can't be played out if you go in edit the patches and create your own shit.

When I said played out, I was referring to the stock sounds. They played out quicker then anything. It's definately on the user, no question. All three of those pieces are good solid pieces if you learn how to take advantage of their capabilities and don't depend on just the sounds they came with.

thats todays age, alot dont know about programming sounds, its all about instant gratification...Im somewhat guilty to but Im not a beatmaker just a hobbyist,I do know how to program my yamaha tx81z, Ive made a few sounds for my jp8000 cause the stock ones wasnt doin it for me,but what most fail to realize is most stock sounds demonstrate the capabilities of the machine

so whats your favorite keyboard, module, software.

Personally my favorite boards are the motif es, xp-60 and k2600 (or 2661). My favorite module is the MP7 (if you can't make a custom kit with this you are RETARDED) and the JP8080. Favorite software? When I use software for sounds it is mach 5, sample tank and a couple of other programs I don't wanna list :)
