If A's lose tonight, will be under .500 since Cespedes trade, and scoring 1.5 runs LESS. Not a good sign.
Not having Cespedes isn't the problem, slumps throughout the lineup started a week or so before he was traded.

Crisp 1st Half: .291 AVG, .387 OBP, .449 SLG, .835 OPS
Crisp 2nd Half: .121 AVG, .244 OBP, .152 SLG, .395 OPS

Norris 1st Half: .294 AVG, .402 OBP, .477 SLG, .879 OPS
Norris 2nd Half: .264 AVG, .312 OBP, .403 SLG, .714 OPS

Vogt 1st Half: .358 AVG, .388 OBP, .532 SLG, .920 OPS
Vogt 2nd Half: .282 AVG, .315 OBP, .447 SLG, .762 OPS

Jaso 1st Half: .274 AVG, .353 OBP, .447 SLG, .800 OPS
Jaso 2nd Half: .232 AVG, .299 OBP, .348 SLG, .348 OPS

Moss 1st Half: .268 AVG, .349 OBP, .530 SLG, .878 OPS
Moss 2nd Half: .213 AVG, .314 OBP, .303 SLG, .617 OPS

Cespedes was protecting Donaldson by hitting cleanup behind him, so he should be affected the most...

Donaldson pre-trade: .247 AVG, .330 OBP, .467 LSG, .797 OPS
Donaldson post-trade: .306 AVG, .417 OBP, .510 OBP, .927 OPS

Norris and Vogt are starting to come back around, and Kyle Blanks (.333 AVG, .446 OBP, .489 SLG, .935 OPS) is rehabbing in AAA right now, he's a huge upgrade over Freiman who's been playing 1B against lefties.

Crisp is the main concern, he's the catalyst of this offense and has been hitting .121 since the break and .083 during this 2-5 stretch. Once he comes out of this slump they'll look like a completely different team.

I'm not concerned, every time we have a scary little 4 game losing streak or some bullshit slump in hitting/scoring, we man up and take 14 of the next 20 and win the games that count. Just wait, we have quite a few games against LA right around the corner and we win those series and everything will be back to normal and everyone will be talking about how the A's are the best team in baseball again.

I thought Hammel was a mistake before his first start. Taking Milone out was a giant mistake and trading him for someone we DFA'd earlier in the season was probably the biggest mistake of the season. Pitching is not the issue at all (aside from replacing Hammel, either bring Pomeranz back or shit even just put Chavez back in the rotation). We are losing games that should be won, all of these 1 run losses lately because are offense is slumping. It's all in their heads, they just have to realize it can be done with out Cespedes.

Hammel wasn't a mistake, there was no way anybody could have known he'd pitch as badly as he has after having a sub-3.00 ERA for most of the season.

Tommy Milone was never a long term option, he's just not that good of a pitcher. He had a string of good starts and it wasn't going to last (it never does.) He started for the Twins last night, he got pulled in the 2nd inning after giving up 6 runs (he only recorded 1 out in the inning before getting pulled.)

They had to trade for Fuld because Cespedes refused to play center with Coco hurt (the position Cespedes was signed to play.) Fuld was only DFAed in the first place because they had a healthy Coco, Reddick, Moss, Vogt, Banks and Cespedes to play the outfield at the time, otherwise they would have kept him (they've wanted him for a long time.)

They just went 17 days in a row without a day off and had one bad stretch, I'm sure they'll be fine after a couple days off this week. They can also use the extra days to shuffle the rotation and give guys an extra day off if they want... The Angels just started their own stretch of 17 games without a day off and end it with 4 games against the A's, so we'll have a better idea of how things look after that.

this series is gonna be an exciting one. best 2 teams in baseball head to head.

When coco goes, the team follows. Hes gonna have to step up this series. Our main run producers need to produce as well. Moss needs to have some good at bats, and id also like to see gomes get a start and hopefully get some rbi's as well.

Also, when was the last time vogt played his actual position? He's a better defensive catcher than jaso and norris. fuck, he's the only one who can throw anyone out! norris or jaso dh, let vogt catch the game

he'll be back in a week. would have preferred hammel going down and coming back in a week beacuse hes gonna skip a start... but hammel has no options
