Aldon Smith
San Francisco 49ers
Round 1, Pick 7

Position: DE
Class: 3So
School: Missouri
Conference: Big 12
HT: 6-4.5
WT: 263
40 Time: 4.74
Biography: "Two-year starter awarded all-Conference honors each of the last two years. Totals last year included 48/10/5.5, one interception and two pass break-ups. Played in 10 games, missing three games because of a fractured leg. Freshman totals included 64/19/11.5, earning him All-American honors."

Positives: "Explosive game-changing player with incredible upside. Athletic and very quick in all his actions. Immediately changes direction, displays speed out to the flanks and effective in pursuit. Flashes on the scene out of nowhere and plays with suddenness. Bends his knees, gets off the snap with a quick first step, and fires through the small openings of the offensive line. Plays assignment football, remains disciplined, and does more than just aimlessly rush up the field. Can drop off the line and make plays in space. Fluid moving in reverse."

Negatives: Lacks natural bulk and can be turned off the line by a single blocker on running downs. Must improve the use of his hands and do a better job using them to protect himself.

Analysis: "Smith arrived on the scene in 2009 and made an immediate impact in the Big 12 as one of the league?s better defenders. He possesses terrific size and growth potential and has the versatility to be used in a variety of positions. Smith is an athletic player who makes a tremendous amount of plays in the box and up the field, and he will quickly produce in the NFL for a creative defensive coordinator who puts him in positions to be successful."

Projection: 1st

saints got other needs than RB, i thought...

bush is a nice 3rd down change of pace RB and he can lie up in the slot. Pierre Thomas is a good RB but he was just hurt pretty much all of last year and that chris ivory kid did a serviceable job his rookie year.

kinda surprised saints pick up a RB in the 1st round n not only that, they traded back in the 1st rd to get him. ingram will be a nice RB though, and he can get 20+ carries right away. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUT oh well, fuck the saints!

I think they made this pick because they don't want to give Reggie a big contract.

Jake locker at 8??? Titans are gonna be disappointed.
I know I am, I don't know much about dude but their saying the guys accuracy is bad AND he is white? What the fuck is he good for then if he can't run or pass?

I would of kept the #winning quarterback and save money but thats just me. Good thing I don't give a fuck about the NFL as much anymore. Chiefs are going to have a great offense next year with the addition of another great WR.

yeah, it's cool that he's versatile and all, but the saints are stacked at the receiver position. they don't need a running back to catch passes for em.
Yeah, but it really adds versatility to the whole field and opens up more plays to get open or un-covered. Look at Ray Rice, Ravens have some good wide receivers but he is a double threat and teams have trouble covering the wide receivers as it is but when you add a running back to the mix they pretty much become fucked...

Same situation with the Saints.

edit: Just peeped some vids of Jake Locker, that white boy can run!

The fuck does the color of his skin have to do with anything?

Just an FYI, Jake ran for nearly 1000 yards his freshman year...a school record. He ran a 4.7 at the combine, evne though for years, everyone thought he was running around a 4.4. He was regarded s the "west coast Tebow" coming into his Junior year. He had late development becuase Ty Willingham know squat about coaching, so he really didn't get any QB coaching until Sark & Nuss came in his junior year, when he switched from a spread offense to a pro-style offense. His accuracy is bad becuase he had one of the WORST OL's in the nation, with NO running game for the first 2 years he played. He also had accuracy issues because of his foot work. That has been fixed. Do i even need to mention the amount of drops the Huskies had last year? It wasnt even funny. Not to mention, when you have a shitty OL, you tend to have a defender in your face all the time. This will cause a QB to go OUTSIDE of the pocket. Funny that he is better outside the pocket than in....correlation???? Hmmmmm...

We picked up Ryan Kerrigan which I thought was a nice addition.... Im sure the Skins are going to convert him to an outside linebacker to play on the opposite side of Orakpo cuz we freakin sucked at forcing pressure and getting sacks with our other LB's. NEXT, a QB with the 41st pick or the 49th(from Jags), Im guessing if they decide to choose one it most likely would be Collin Kaepernick or maybe a wideout

I assumed the guy can't run because white people are slow as fuck, sorry but its the truth. After watching some footage he actually runs alot like VY with a couple improvements but a few drawbacks like not gaining enough momentum and power to run through players. I think Titans will coach him well to make some adjustments.

As far as his team not giving him much support I didn't know because I don't watch College, but he should feel right at home again if he has to deal with shitty WR's they always drop perfectly thrown passes..The OL was easily one of the best a few years ago, they have been falling apart since then..

Will be excited to see the guy play for sure hes a great addition.
