(From best to worst)

Castlevania:

Best of the bunch, gorgeous graphics, everything done right. If you enjoyed the PS2 renditions, you'll just love this. Not to mention the game's length and difficulty add more bang to your buck.

Bayonetta:

Stylish, and fast paced. The way something always happens reminds me a lot of Black Ops. Great soundtrack, great length, hard mode adds even more to the value.

Darksiders:

Zelda rip off all the way with more blood. How can you go wrong.

Dante's Inferno:

Meh. The best premises of the bunch and yet it wound up being the most boring. Considering that the game is only 6 hours long after about 4 you're only playing to see it through to the end.

I didn't play any others. If you have opinions on the above or some others I missed comment and share.

Castlevania is a shitty game but for $20 you can't go wrong (thats how much copped it for at frys.)

Shitty camera that ruins gameplay, the hit detection is off at times, many of the puzzles suck, some of the level design is garbage, at time the graphics suck or the framerate dips when nothing is going on.

And what the fuck is up with having to reload a level just to backtrack and find upgrades, not to mention it plays those same cut scenes over and over when you do?

I'm going to wager that it's not hit detection at all but rather your TV has a bit too many frames of lag. (Which would make it seem like the game had bad hit detection.) I've had no problems with hit detection.

I have to disagree. I think Castlevania's were 2nd only to Bayonetta's. Plus they always offer a solution if you can't figure it out. (Unlike darksiders who entire ending of the game was a tedious puzzle that took hours to complete)

Camera-wise. There was times I wish I could just look around but I accepted the camera for what it is. Very rarely did it effect gameplay.

I think that the level designs in this game are the best Castlevania has ever seen. They don't step too far away from the series style but are very playable without frustration. (I mean compare this to Dante's Inferno when you die more from trying to jump from platform to platform then you do from combat).

@Siccx, i saw a demo and it kind of looked like a Gears of War rip off. Is it?

@Way-Side. You should try some of the other games out before you make a final judgment, they're all for PS3 too and can be picked up rather cheaply.

First lets get into Vanquish:

http://siccness.net/vb/showpost.php?p=5508896&postcount=33

No it isn't a Gears clone. Some similarities like 3rd person, cover and shooting guns, but that is where the similarities end.

Now lets go into Castlevania:

I'm going to wager that it's not hit detection at all but rather your TV has a bit too many frames of lag. (Which would make it seem like the game had bad hit detection.) I've had no problems with hit detection.
No. I'm not the only one that has experienced this.

http://diehardgamefan.com/2010/10/11/review-castlevania-lords-of-shadow-sony-ps3/

Take note of how many times he says the detection is off (from the buttons to the analog stick.)

Here is another: http://www.gemakei.com/reviews.php?articleId=794&page=1

Now fight the Ice Titan and play around with him for a bit and I gurantee you he'll hit you with his fist even though you're nowehere near his fist (I'm talking before it even hits the ground.)

I have to disagree. I think Castlevania's were 2nd only to Bayonetta's. Plus they always offer a solution if you can't figure it out. (Unlike darksiders who entire ending of the game was a tedious puzzle that took hours to complete)
Thats the problem. Offering a solution to the puzzle. You shouldn't have to offer solutions to your puzzles. Your puzzles should force you to think but they shouldn't make you throw your controller at the screen. Whats the point of even putting the puzzles in if you're going to offer an optional solution that only costs you exp? You can use the solution, get past the puzzle, reload another chapter and farm and get the experience that you lost back. You think thats balanced? You think that is innovative game design?

Camera-wise. There was times I wish I could just look around but I accepted the camera for what it is. Very rarely did it effect gameplay.
The cam has been the BIGGEST gameplay gripe.

Here is just one example:

http://www.gamesector.net/2010/10/14/castlevania-lords-of-shadow-review/

I think that the level designs in this game are the best Castlevania has ever seen. They don't step too far away from the series style but are very playable without frustration. (I mean compare this to Dante's Inferno when you die more from trying to jump from platform to platform then you do from combat).
Who cares if they are the best Castlevania has ever seen? How do they stack up to the competition? Again, because this is an aspect of level design, what the fuck is up with having to reload a level just to backtrack and find upgrades, not to mention it plays those same cut scenes over and over when you do?

And platforming? LMAO! Don't make me laugh. Seriously, some things shine and you know you're supposed to jump on them or to them yet some things don't do anything and you're stuck wondering what the fuck to do.

They need to make a patch that implements a new camera scheme or they need to make a patch that changes some of the angles. This game is a PLAY in my PLAY OR PASS ranking, but I'd never suggest anyone purchase it unless they can cop it for $20 or under.

L.D.S., Go to a mirror, say to yourself:

There's this person I've never met on the internet, I follow every post he makes to talk shit. I know there is plenty of better things I could do with my time but I still choose to be dedicated to this activity.

I know you won't do it, because it'll sound stupid when you say it out loud, yet you do it in reality. Bet you're a happy individual with a great life.

This goes the same for hella_numb and mrtoungetwista.

Platinum Games is one of the best new game developers, can't wait to see what they make next. I still gotta play Vanquish.

I'll give it a chance if I find it for a good price. Have you played Quantem Theory? What are your thoughts on that? The demo seemed just like another Gears clone.

As far as your above post, I'm only speaking from my experience and didn't have those problems. I didn't find any of the puzzles ridiculous and the only time I bought the solution to one of them was after a break without playing it for a few weeks and didn't remember exactly where I left off.

I'm guessing the reason you have to reload each stage is to be reminiscent of how it was in Castlevania IV. The game most people last played.

What makes the levels so bad in your opinion?

I think there is a gorgeous varitey of scenery, a good amount of challenge, a simple enough path to navigate, and enough hints a long the way to help you through in the event you get stuck.

C'mon now Smurf, the first step to admitting you're a psychopath is to stop masturbating to animated sheep getting rammed in the ass by squid-like alien invaders.

I played the demo for Quantem Theory, and all I can say about that is I want that wasted time back, it's like an unpolished rip off of Gears, like the bootleg toys you find at the 99 cents store, sure it looks like Spider-Man from a distance, the more you move in though you see just how fake and poorly made that shit is.
