I'm going to do something odd and take no ones side in this event. The guy who pulled off this act was a heinous coward who tried to kill his ex-gf (as last I heard don't know if she died later) before doing something in the name of two other people that were senselessly killed themselves that is counterproductive to a movement that is very real and very needed in the US right now. I honestly don't believe he did this out of anger about the situations of Michael Brown or Eric Garner or anyone who has unjustifiably died at the hands of police officers. He did it because he was a psychopath who wanted to guarantee his time in the limelight before killing himself like the coward he was.

As for the police officers I feel for their families as no one deserves to lose loved ones to senseless violence. They could have been good cops, they could have been bad cops, they could have been cops that wanted to make a positive impact, they could have been cops that just wanted to make a paycheck, I really don't know. The thing is, and even though I strongly don't believe in this case the perpetrator was honestly doing this because of the injustices in the two stated cases, people in general are starting to rise up - and mostly peacefully in the large context of it all - against the advancing "us against them" attitude cops have with the general public as a whole and the ever increasing militarization of the police. When you become a police officer you know this type of thing comes with the territory and there is a chance you might die doing your job. But if you are going to increasingly have a "us against them" point of view which has been running rampant of late don't be surprised when "them" start pushing back regardless if you are a good or bad cop, you are in the same gang. If you go by the police motto of "To protect and to serve" cops are supposed to be on the defense, not the offense, which is not the case and hasn't been for a long time now. Any cop that doesn't stand up and call for change within their line of work is siding with the rotten ones that are perpetrating these crimes against the general public and they are just as guilty by association in my opinion. Their crimes don't get the justification they deserve, never have, and will never do so unless the people take a stand.

Also anyone who tries to politicize events like this are a piece of shit just like when they do other tragedies such as Sandy Hook and the Boston Bombing. Politics is not the discourse to take in situations like this and is nothing but counterproductive.

Frank Serpico, the iconic,corruption-busting NYPD detective who walked an inter-borough beat teeming with thugs and drugs during the perilous era that was NYC in the 1960’s and 70’s–a.k.a when cops rightfully feared for their lives–has some harsh words for today’s boys in blue.

Serpico–whose whistle blowing battle against police corruption became a film starring Al Pacino before he became perpetually out-door voiced–penned a scathing piece today against cops who he feels are cowardly and shouldn’t even be allowed to own weapons.

“In the old days, they used to put a gun or a knife on somebody after a shooting. Now they don’t even bother. But today, we have cops crying wolf all the time. They testify “I was in fear of my life,” the grand jury buys it, the DA winks and nods, and there’s no indictment.”

Serpico goes on to tell a few anecdotes about the officers of his era doing whatever they could to actually take a suspect into custody, even if they were being shot at or found themselves in grave danger.

It’s also important to note that this was a guy who had both cops and criminals gunning for him at one point. In 1971, Serpico was shot in the face and severely wounded during a botched drug bust that some feel was a ploy from corrput officers to get him killed in order to shut him up for good.

Few people understand this abysmal cycle of twisted justice better than the ex-detective, though it’s all the more disheartening to see that 40 years after wrenching rotten cops into the spotlight he is still as cynical as the rest of us over the widening rift between law enforcement and the people they have sworn to protect, grimly adding:

“The police are becoming our enemy, and society is becoming the enemy of the police.

Somebody with clear, objective and impartial thinking needs to come to their senses and find a solution.”

AP) — Mayor Bill de Blasio said this is ‘not the time for politics’ following the murder of two police officers in Brooklyn on Saturday.

This as New York City’s police commissioner said the gunman who ambushed and killed two police officers had made online posts that were ‘very anti-police.’

Police Commissioner William Bratton choked up at a news conference at the Woodhull medical Center on Saturday afternoon as he talked about the fatal shootings of two officers in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. Meanwhile, an eyewitness who spoke to The Daily Beast said that ‘a lot of people were clapping and laughing’ following the murder of the two police officers.

‘Some were saying, “They deserved it,” and another was shouting at the cops, “Serves them right because you mistreat people!”’said the man, identified as Carlos.

‘They were, quite simply, assassinated — targeted for their uniform. … They were ambushed and murdered,’ said Bratton.

‘Every New Yorker should feel they were attacked, that our entire city was attacked, by this heinous individual,’ said de Blasio. ‘When a police officer is murdered it tears at the foundation of our society. It is an attack on all of us.’

De Blasio added: ‘Our city is in mourning. Our hearts are heavy. We lost two good men who devoted their lives to protecting all of us.’

Mayor de Blasio and Bratton also talked of meeting with the family of the victims, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.

Liu was just married, and Ramos has a 13-year-old son.

Hundreds of members of the NYPD turned their back to Mayor de Blasio as he entered the news conference Saturday evening, and later these same officers lined the streets and silently saluted as the bodies of the two slain officers were taken away.

In a statement Saturday night, Attorney General Eric Holder condemned the shooting deaths as senseless and ‘an unspeakable act of barbarism.’

Bratton said the gunman shot and wounded his former girlfriend in Baltimore earlier Saturday and made posts from her Instagram account.

Authorities didn’t get into the specifics of the contents of the posts, but two officials said that he posted about shooting two ‘pigs’ in retaliation for the death of Eric Garner. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley, 28, shot his girlfriend in Baltimore on Saturday morning then traveled to Brooklyn, New York City, to kill officers Liu and Ramos before turning the gun on himself. Liu and Ramos may have not even seen the gunman before they were shot, Bratton said.

The family of Michael Brown released a statement condemning the shootings, this after reports the killer had mentioned the name of the murdered teenager on his Instagram early Saturday.

‘We reject any kind of violence directed toward members of law enforcement. It cannot be tolerated. We must work together to bring peace to our communities,’ they said. ‘Our thoughts and prayers go out to the officers’ families during this incredibly difficult time.’

Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement Saturday evening saying; ‘Tonight, the thoughts and prayers of all New Yorkers are with the family and friends of New York City police officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, who were assassinated in the line of duty.
‘This deplorable act of violence is the opposite of what New York is and what New Yorkers believe in.

‘These brave officers, along with the over 34,000 other uniformed men and women of the New York Police Department, put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe.

‘They run toward danger when all of our instincts tell us to run away.

‘Tonight, we all come together to mourn the loss of these brave souls.’

That nigga went haywire but this is the result of the us vs them mentality, the blue wall/blue shield bullshit. It's gonna be more shit like this happening across the country, niggas (which includes all races) are gonna start blappin cops left and right.
Fuck those pieces of shit. Cops have way too much power in this country. Tell me another job that involves kicking down peoples doors & shooting their dogs or flash gernading their infants & grandmas as standard procedure.

Name another job that allows you to literally rob citizens for their entire pay check based on your word and nothing else.

I value my life too much to go out and shoot a bunch of pigs but my hats are off to the ones who do shoot these piece of shits.

Biggest criminal gang in america is the Police.

"‘They were, quite simply, assassinated — targeted for their uniform. … They were ambushed and murdered"",’ said Bratton.

Not like they profile people based on what they're wearing or anything...
