wassup I been trying to learn how to make rap beats with hyphy/bay areaish sound for the last month. Prior to downloading ableton and buying a used keyboard in the last month, my only experience with music was listening to a whole lot of rap especially yay area stuff since forever. Youtube tutorials have been a little helpful so far and I'm just starting to learn some notes and basic stuff on the piano. I'm sure there are a lot of beatmakers/producers on here hopefully that could help point me in the right direction ? some of my favorite producers are ea-ski, traxamillion, roblo, sean t, rickrock, droop-e, djfresh, the mekanix, and a whole lot more. So far i have made some ok drum loops with claps and cowbells that do sound west coasty but im having a hard time figuring out how to lay instruments over them and adding bass and stuff. should i just stick to the mostly generic youtube tutorials? or does anyone have any advice, it would be much appreciated,, i wish there was someone that lived near me in oakland to teach me and help me out, anyways have a good one thanks for reading! also ableton vs logic vs reason vs FL ???

Try networking with some actual studios and production engineers. If you are serious about a craft you want to seek out professionals as mentors. It may be alot of hitting the pavement before you find the right fit and someone willing to but YouTube is not going to get you on the level yfm
