Pro's and Con's of Catholic School

I'm debating whether or not to send my daughter to Catholic school. She starts Kindergarten next year and the public schools in my designated area suck. Has anyone gotten their kids into a different school through the lottery system? Has anyone put their kids through Catholic school? I'm not much connected to the church anymore. While I still hold some of the same values I learned from attending Catholic school K-2 and going to cathecism after that, I don't agree with a lot of shit that goes on either. I just want the best education for my kids without having to spend $20K a year for each one

They expect you to volunteer hella time to school events on top of the tuition so it's kinda a hassle but it's better then public school. Sometimes it back fires and your daughter could be a huge slut because kids love to rebel but public school it's way more likely she will be exposed to foul shit

i don't know too much because my kids are not yet school age (only pre school). but if public schools are crappy in your area, put them in private school. if you can afford it i think it's worth it, but just my opinion

i went to shitty public schools in vallejo and don't want that for my kids

My stepson is in public school. Score for the school is a 7 and it shows in comparison to his previous school which was a 3.

I did consider the daughter becoming a slut thing, but I'm going to be a big part of her life...a good way to combat that from what I've heard. Plus my 2 little hitters will be right behind her in the grade below, so between the 3 of us...it's going to be tough gauntlet for a scumbag like my old self to run

I was lucky enough to fake my address from 4th grade on...so I got to go to good public schools with my cousin who was in the same grade. The school we're looking at has tuition that's cheaper than what we pay for daycare, so the money will be okay. I've heard a lot about the volunteering thing, and I'm more than willing. My wife is really good at getting our kids special treatment by buttering up the teachers with gift cards and shit, so I know we will be favored

Don't do it. Thought about sending my daughter to catholic school even though she is atheist and I am undecided, but believe it all to be bullshit (religion). I am a product of private religious school. The education was light years ahead of public school (then) but the abuse wasn't worth it. My youngest daughter has a 3.8 GPA and is in advanced classes. A private school would have been a prison of her mind and probably turned her in to a hoe tbh. I hooked up w/ so many catholic school girls in my younger years lmao.... There are better options in education without paying ridiculous sums of money. And for the record, my daughter is a goddamn angel, seriously, her other siblings- far from it; and truth be told considering all the wrong shit I have done in my life, I don't deserve a child like her. Never done drugs, never smoked or used alcohol, so exposure to foul shit doesn't mean anything, it all depends on their character. I am not going to pay for my children to be brainwashed by some money hungry savages i.e. a church- forget all that.

I went to a public school in a middle class neighborhood and while it was whack at times it really enabled me to learn to be autonomous and self-sufficient... or was that just childhood

There was always hella hoes at all the schools out here.

I never went to catholic schools but the one dude I knew who did dropped out and started slanging crack. I don't think he ever held a real job aside from a couple weeks at a pizza joint and then another couple weeks at UPS.

I haven't seen him in about 10 or so years but last I saw him he was still doing the same old. I doubt it had to do with his school tho.

I figured I would get the macho "i've hooked up with a bunch of catholic school girls when i was 25 etc..." and then I knew I would get the guys who hate Christianity...so really I'm in the same place I was before I made this thread

I know whores from all schools/walks of life. I know some great women who went to Catholic school and are raising amazing kids too...so I think it's really all up to the parents in the end

At the end of the day I think a good public school is better than a good private school for the sake of the child and their exposure to reality.

I totally agree. I don't want my kids to grow up in a bubble but I want them to feel safe and free of unnecessary distractions at school. When we moved into a bigger house I was making a big stink about the public school district we were going to be in. I said I would rather sacrifice square footage to be in Alameda where the public schools are excellent. My wife's mom said not to worry as she would pay for my daughter to go to a top notch school. Now that it's time, she's talking about maybe paying half. It's funny now no one remembers me wanting to move to the good school zone

it's bad. 30 kids to a classroom. Supposed to be really hard to get in touch with teachers. Stories about fights. I'll end up going to jail if someone hurts my daughter

Put it this way Matt, you have two choices here:

Go with Catholic school, just know that there will be churchy shit mixed in with your kids education. Or, go with public school with NO churchy shit. Its your choice.

In my experience with my stepson. I came into his life when he just turned 6 and he was in his kinder. The kid was bad. Lol jumping lil niggas and fighting. But he enjoyed the learning aspect of school. He was also a product of his class as half of the students had behavior issues and his teachers did not know how to discipline them. He is now going into 5th grade and he is at an advanced level. He is well behaved in class for the most part. I say all of this to say it's a mix of parent involvement, a competent teacher, and the will and drive of your child. Most teachers are there an hour before and after class. They will accommodate if your child needs one on one time and or if you need to speak to the teacher. I personally wouldn't pay for private school. I rather put the extra work in and save a few bucks.
