^^^^its like...why can't some people just enjoy tue ride and mystery? Jesus christ

Referring to the Reddit poster
Ever since that one poster predicted the Mr Robot season 2 after the first episode Reddit has gone a bit overboard with predictions it seems. I don't mind reading them though since they post a lot of small details that a pretty cool, stuff i otherwise would have missed.

Remember all the Arya theories this past season?! lol sometimes the simplest explanation is the right one.

Westworld has a lot mystery by design so it's going to bring this kind of stuff naturally. Some of those posts foil into amazing detail though and it's fun to read and speculate since no one really knows.

I predicted Bernard was an AI after the first episode. It was fairly obvious to see that some of the "humans" would be AIs and some of the AIs would gain sentience.

Really liking this show regardless. Ed Harris is a badass villain. I'm wondering if he's an AI that Arnold uploaded his consciousness to before killing his human body.

Also I wonder if Elsie is dead or just being held captive and by whom. She's probably my favorite minor character.

I dont think Ed Harris is a vaillain though...its now clear that Ford is the "villain". Or is he an anit-hero to the "board", who is the actual real villain?

Also, ill join the "crack the code" crowd. Found this on Entertainment site:

"In previous weeks I’ve played with the idea that Dolores could be the mysterious Arnold, or that Arnold could be Ford’s younger self. Now I’m thinking its Bernard. My idea is that Arnold died and then Ford built a host in his image to carry on his work in some fashion and to serve as a workplace companion (and spy on his staff), just like he did with his robo-family. It would make sense as Bernard is the one who’s seemingly empowering Dolores and, like Arnold, has strong empathy for the hosts.

But there’s a specific reason for my suspicion in this episode, as well: When Cullen is looking at the host sketches, she sees the young Robert and the Dolores drawings and in the bottom right-hand corner the camera observes that each sketch is labeled with the host’s repsective name – “Robert” and “Dolores.” When Cullen looks at the Bernard sketch, the bottom is kept off camera. Why? It would have made her discovery even more clear – and more symetrical with the previous shots – if it were labeled “Bernard.” I suspect it’s hidden because that name on his sketch might be “Arnold.” Notice we’ve never heard Arnold’s last name. “Bernard Lowe” is an anagram for “Arnold Weber.” "

THE THREE TIME PERIOD THEORY

If you’re not up to speed on the very popular two time period theory, you can read all about it here. But, suffice to say, that most Westworld viewers—even the ones skeptical of some of the twistier theories—acknowledge that we’re likely not seeing events play out in a strictly linear fashion. I’ve suspected for some time now that we’re actually dealing with three distinct eras in Westworld’s history. There’s the pre-park time (with Arnold), the early days of the park (with William), and 30 years into the park (with the Man in Black).

By that logic, those one-on-one scenes just between Dolores and “Bernard” could actually be a flashback to diagnostic sessions conducted at the beginning of the park between Arnold and his very first creation. Both Bernard and Arnold would be played by Jeffrey Wright and look identical to the viewer thus allowing the show some very tricksy time period manipulation. That theory was reinforced this week as Theresa and “Bernard” explored the space underneath the house Arnold built for Ford’s robot family. “Bernard” calls it a “remote diagnostics facility” and it looks very similar to the room where Dolores was reading Alice in Wonderland and first learned about the maze.

The timeline theories have been going around for a while but clearly we know at the very least there are different time lines or simply scenes shot out of order. Like the Dolores and Bernard are without a doubt separate from Dolores' plot... whether it's before or after or 30 years ago no one knows, but we know Bernard simply isn't snatching her away while she's with William to interview her.

William being the Man in Black made sense for a while until two episodes ago when the Man in Black said something that made me believe they aren't the same. I forget exactly now, I'll have to dig it up, but the gist of it was the Man in Black made a comment along the lines of "never in my life have I allowed someone to treat me like a bitch" (not even close to the actual words lol) but William was constantly treated like a lesser person by his business partner, so that little comment made it seem like they are different people. Maybe the MiB is his business partner Logan. I think that is more fitting.

Bernard is Arnold, I'm onboard with that assumption.

So Ill have to watch it again, but can anyone tell me why those two techs are letting Maeve negotiate anything?
Why not just unplug her battery?
I am both fascinated and annoyed with that story tonight.
The asian dude clearly has (or had) some kind of attraction to Maeve. He also probably was sympathetic to the androids since we saw a soft side of him experimenting with the bird. The other dude has been going along with it strictly out of fear (like when she held the scalpel to his throat). At this point I think they realize they are in too deep and don't want to get in trouble/fired. Also, the biggest reason was probably because she threatened both of them on spilling the beans about what they've been up to down there (having sex with the androids! They both appear to be lonely pervs.). Now she's fully controlling them and is smart enough since they leveled up her intelligence to the max number.

I did some further digging to see what Nolan said if anything and stumbled on this interview:

Nitpicky question though: Couldn’t the body shop guys just jack down Maeve’s levels to knock her out, and make some lobotomizing so-called “mistake” to take out her memory? We’ve been shown over and over the humans have so much control, it’s hard to believe they couldn’t get the upper hand on a rogue host.

Nolan: I will point you toward episode 8.

So it appears we will get more of an explanation in the next episode. I'm very curious now myself...

Westworld recap: Season 1, Episode 7 twist | EW.com
I like this summary the best:

Bernard is a host version of Arnold and the conversations we see between Bernard and Dolores actually took place when Arnold was alive and discovering that hosts were developing true self awareness and free will.
It presumes that Arnold played a key role in a major robot uprising in the past, before the park opened. This uprising can be supported by scenes we have seen in several episodes, shown in this video. A revolt of the hosts that almost destroyed the park and eventually led to Arnold's death.

Dolores might've played an important role in that moment, given the influence William had in her life. An influence so strong that a simple loop reset might've been unable to contain. And ever since then, she continues to insist on leaving the park to pursue William.

Thus, Ford's ingenuity came up with Dolores's current story line, replacing her memory of William with Teddy and keeping her under control. One of Ford's conversation with Teddy reveals that Ford programmed him with one purpose: to keep Dolores in the park.

Several signs indicate that a second uprising is forming. Hosts are "once again" becoming aware of the simplicity and deviant purpose of their lives, and they seem to be coming back with a vengeance.

Everything seems to fit really nicely into this theory.

The Truth Behind Teddy’s Backstory: Ever since the character of Wyatt was invented as the cartoonish, monstrous villain of Teddy’s newly created backstory in Episode 3, something seemed off about him. This week we may have found out why. When Dolores visited the Town with the White Church she had a bloody flashback to a massacre that happened there. If it looked familiar, here’s why.

I’d say the real massacre that happened in this town back when the park opened was the inspiration for Ford’s “Escalante/Wyatt” backstory. Teddy’s even there in Dolores’s memory. Blink and you might have missed him striding through the dust with a rifle in his hand mowing down townspeople.

As Ford describes it, the Wyatt incident took place in a “time of war.” I’d say that war was the one raging between Arnold and Ford over what the true purpose of the park was. (Maeve describes her programming as “two minds arguing with each other.” Bicameral, sure, but also Ford vs. Arnold.)

As Teddy describes it, Wyatt “claimed he could hear the voice of God.” Does that sound like a host grappling with the bicameral mind? In other words, isn’t that exactly what Dolores has been going through? In Episode 3, Teddy also says Wyatt went “missing while out on maneuvers” and “came back with some pretty strange ideas.” When he made that speech, the camera then cut immediately to Dolores walking through Sweetwater.

Having Logan become the MiB would be a mistake. The MiB has character depth, and there are allusions to him having a different kind of life prior and outside of Westworld. Logan, on the other hand, is a through-and-through douchebag. He's the kind of guy that might drive a young MiB to embrace some of his darker nature, but that would be mostly in retaliation. Anyway, it would just generally constitute poor writing for them to reveal that a 3-dimensional character like the man in black is really that 2-dimensional asshole that's only in it for sex and violence.

i thought this last episode was mad underwhelming in comparison to the recent two. maybe i wasnt paying much attention but to my knowledge i was. the last two before yesterdays were crazy.
Maybe in terms of action but it was huge in terms of what they revealed. Bernard was made in Arnold's likeness, Dolores is the host that killed Arnold, etc.

You almost have to think the Ford knows what's happening with Maeve and is letting it go on for some reason.

I don't know that I like this series better than GoT but it's probably next on my list.
