It turns out the Assistant Store Manager isn't really authorized to hire Geek Squad people he's only supposed to hire regular Best Buy people.

So I got re-interviewed by the GM.

Now I went from "congratulations you're hired" to "I have 3 others to interview for the position, the Assistant Store Manager's recommendation will be favorable, we'll let you know in a couple days".

I was a contracted phone sales associate for Best Buy, and I will say their business practices are unethical. We received thousands of fake phone purchase calls from China and Nigeria with very foreign men and women calling in with names like "James Patricia", or males with clearly female names like Nancy Jane, and we were instructed by BB to take the phone calls and make the sales as best we can and to not speak of fraud with other employees. Hella shady. At one point I determined somehow those men and women worked for a sister company of BB and we're essentially just cycling money and products through BB chains.
