It wasn't female empowerment I didn't like man, Leia has become a powerful military general and stormtrooper commanders are now female. No problem at all.
But the lead chick was overly tough and brave at times, then sensitive and caring to non-human characters at others, then incredibly smart and able to do literally anything at other times, and then unrealistically strong at other moments.
I would be pissed off if a male character was written like her, but I know that the only reason they her like that was to appease the feminists.
Couple an obnoxious character with a terrible actress and you've got a pretty bad distraction from the movie.

tbh fam I thought guardians of the galaxy was pretty fantastic.
All the characters were interesting and likeable, the plot was original, the acting wasn't fucking dogshit
The green chick in that movie was pretty empowered, and her acting was great. Her empowered female character wasn't over the top like some kind of fan story written by a tumblr SJW, so I had absolutely no problem with her.
