In other news, which isn't really news at all, Cotto is on more bitch shit.

Miguel Cotto Warns That It's Catch-Weight or No Fight - Boxing News

HERESY @HERESY

check out this corruption by the WBC.

Today this is announced:

Seven Day Weights: Cotto 163.6, Geale 167.5

Seven Day Weights: Cotto 163.6, Geale 167.5 - Boxing News

But remember the 30-day weigh in? They announced Geale was an unreal 158 pounds?

30 Day Weights: Cotto 164.8-Pounds, Geale 158 - Boxing News

How can he be this much heavier with only seven days to go?

Well Geale himself had THIS to say about the weight:

Those advantages held by Geale—height, reach and a naturally bigger build—are undeniably the reasons behind Cotto and his team demanding the fight be fought at a catchweight of 157 pounds and with rumors circulating the internet that Geale had weighed in at a highly unlikely 158 pounds, a whole thirty days out from the fight, many were scratching their heads as to how a middleweight such as Geale could be so close to weight so far out from the fight. No one was more amused at this revelation than Geale himself.

I wish it was true,” Geale says with a laugh before putting the rumors to bed, “I was well over 158.”

What type of fuckery is this!?!?

What was the April card?

It should be an increase being that it's Amir Khan. These are really low numbers though. But it's Spike, on a Friday, I guess we'll see. Not impressive though by any means, but that's still OK at this point in the game.
Avg was 599k. You also had a big playoff game on the April date so that contributed as well.

This is some WBC fuckery and I also blame Geale. Should not have accepted a catchweight for a title fight and he should have lost weight in camp. This guy is going to be fucked friday.

Another Cotto opportunist victory at hand here.

I mean who was fighting in April? I remember Berto vs Lopez, but I think that was March (and that did slightly less than Khan).

Yeah, but in the other hand money talks and it's a huge fight for him. It's a tough situation for a guy like Geale. It's easy for us to say just reject it, but he may never get an opportunity like this again in his life.

khan677777777(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Scott Gilfoid: Last Friday’s bout between Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) and former WBOI 140lb champ Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KOs) brought in an average of 1 million viewers on Spike TV on Premier Boxing Champions, according to Dan Rafael. The fight peaked at 1.12 million viewers. That’s not bad for a fight on Spike TV. The numbers likely would have been much higher had the fight been televised on NBC or CBS.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the numbers were twice as good on those networks. The Khan vs. Algieri fight took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. They reportedly scaled the fight for an attendance of 7,000, and curtained off the other half of the Barclays Center.

That’s obviously not a good thing for Khan because the fight was supposed to have been a showing that he belonged in the same ring with Mayweather. Khan didn’t impress against Algieri, and obviously the ratings and the scaled back Barclays Center showed that Khan has limitations in terms of popularity as well in the United States. But I still think the fight would have brought in much bigger numbers if it had been televised on NBC.

“Live airing of Khan-Algieri bout had average audience of 1M viewers on Spike. Peaked at 1.12M. They all saw a helluva fight! #boxing,” Dan Rafael said on his Twitter.

Khan won the fight by a 12 round unanimous decision by the scores of 115-113, 117-111 and 117-111. Two of the scores were quite wide, but they didn’t accurately portray what happened in the actual fight. The fight was a lot closer than those two scores, and Khan was under constant pressure and was hurt several times in the fight. What was really surprising was how Khan was hurt by a non-puncher like Algieri.

In fairness to Khan, Algieri did appear to be punching harder than he’d ever shown in any of his previous fights. He also was bigger than he’d been in the past. Algieri looked thin against Manny Pacquiao last November in losing a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision. But against Khan, Algieri looked to be at least 10-15 pounds heavier than his last fight, and his size seemed to bother Khan. He clearly wasn’t used to fighting guys as tall and as heavy as Algieri, and it showed. Khan was constantly backing up, and really uncomfortable with the pressure that Algieri put on him.

The transformation that Algieri made in both his fighting style and his physique from his last fight was nothing short of startling. The only fighter I’ve seen make a transformation like that is Juan Manuel Marquez, who bulked up for his 2012 fight against Pacquiao and knocked him down twice in the process of scoring a knockout in the 6th.

My bad, I meant the march date, not April. It's an increase from March.

As for Geale, see this is the fuck shit I'm talking about. Cotto says GGG hasn't earned this, isn't a draw, whatever. But Geale, the guy you are fighting, was just stopped by GGG via TKO. WTF?

It's obviously not about being a draw or any of that nonsense, what it boils down to is Cotto has a voluntary and he's choosing a middleweight he believes he can beat. His middleweight title is important to him because it's leverage when potentially negotiating with Canelo or Floyd. That's why he doesn't simply drop it and go back down to 154 - he owns what many people want, and because of that Cotto has an upper hand when it comes to the negotiating table.

The whole Cotto vs Canelo/Floyd will be quite interesting because GGG is mandatory. Will he accept step aside money? Will he enforce his mandatory position and if so, will the WBC stick to their word and force/strip Cotto if he refuses? Will Cotto lose his leverage without the WBC belt or will his Ring (lineal) title be just the same? But I'm sure the WBC (We Be Crooks) aren't going to do shit. Golovkin is in a shitty position sad to say. Too much of a risk for the big names at 154/160, and the only big name fight for him at 168 is Froch who wants upwards of $10 million dollars or more which isn't realistic for a regular HBO fight and the fight isn't big enough to sell great numbers on American PPV.

Why shit on Cotto about dropping his belt when Floyd hasn't defended his 154 title well over a year ago? HERESY @HERESY is right, Geale shouldn't have taken this fight at catchweight. He can't complain. None of us can.

1. Any champion not defending their title should vacate or be stripped. Floyd is no exception.

2. 206 and myself, over many posts, have outlined why Cotto should drop the belt.

I could see why Froch thinks hes worth that much money especially if it were to happen in the UK. Have that shit at Wembley again and they could make a killing sales wise.
It's unrealistic because his Groves rematch where he made all that money was huge there, two UK fighters following a good, controversial first fight.

If he wants to do it in the UK that's fine but there are issues. In order to sell out Wembley it would have to be heavily promoted in the UK obviously and that would be on Froch's promoter, Hearn, to work out. It would have to be at night in the UK meaning a daytime fight in the US, HBO isn't going to put up a ton of money for a daytime event they never do and never will.

The problem is Hearn isn't doing anything on his end, all he has said is "we will wait for an offer from HBO". Ok. HBO can't work out UK PPV sales, secure Wembley stadium and all that. An offer from HBO is going to be half, at least, of what Froch wants. Basically if they really want the fight, Froch and his people need to do something on the UK side if they want a massive PPV. Doesn't seem they are trying at all. But we'll see.

Froch should get the money he wants for his last fight. Hbo aint bout that life, cant afford to take a loss from ggg.
Ain't about that life? Lol what is that supposed to mean? You think they can afford to pay $10 million just for Froch? That's ridiculous.

Froch isn't getting $10 million from any opponent right now unless maybe he moves up. He can't get that much from DeGale (who Froch already said he isn't going to fight). Definitely not Ward. The one shot was Chavez Jr but he blew it, and now is trying to fight Macklin (at 170 pounds lol). The only way would be to lure Kessler out of retirement and have a rubber match and then maybe, but that's pushing it as well. Froch even turned down a fight with Bernard Hopkins saying it wasn't enough money so I don't know what this guy is expecting here.

Froch either needs to come down to earth a bit or retire. If the only way he'll fight is for $10 million then honestly he should retire because that means he's not in it for the love of the spot anymore, only big money.

No shit froch is in it for the money, hes on the cusp of retirment just like cotto. Ggg needs froch more than froch needs ggg. Ggg is not getting any younger, hes been at 160 his whole career. Time to move on up, chavez was offered 10, why not froch. And yes hbo can afford it, they wont cause ggg is their new hype job
