Mayweather-Pacquiao: Leo Santa Cruz Faces Cayetano
Posted by: Miguel Rivera on 4/25/2015 .

By Miguel Rivera

Sources in Mexico are stating that WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (29-0-1, 17KOs) will face Jose Cayetano (17-3, 8KOs) as part of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view undercard on May 2nd from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight is a non-title encounter.

Cayetano is coming in on short notice after other potential opponents fell through. He was last in action in February, losing a ten round decision to Enrique Bernache. Cayetano has never fought outside of Mexico and he has never been stopped.

Santa Cruz has been out of the ring since January, when he broke down and put away Jesus Ruiz on the Deontay Wilder vs. Bermane Stiverne undercard, also at the MGM Grand.

Al Haymon.

The undercard is really really bad.
SMH...

It should be the best fighters that are available or who need a push. For example, lets say Rigo were to fight on this card. It would essentially make him a household name (good or bad.) But Santa Cruz? what a joke.

From my understanding, it's LSC's first fight moving up to 126. They are using this fight to promote a possible PBC card or next Mayweather ppv undercard for LSC vs Mares. Not a bad move actually. But if Loma comes out calling out LSC after his win, then there would be more of a demand to see LSC, whether we like it or not.

George Foreman says Floyd Mayweather is RIGHT ... telling TMZ Sports, "Pound for pound, Floyd is better than me and Muhammad Ali ever were."

Mayweather received tons of criticism this week after saying HE should be considered the greatest fighter of all time ... and now, it seems Foreman's backing him up in a major way.
"This is a better generation BY FAR," Foreman tells us ... "They're smarter, they're stronger, they're overall just better fighters."
Of course, Foreman is extremely qualified to weigh in on the subject, having fought Muhammad Ali in the famous, "Rumble in the Jungle" in 1974 ... in addition to his 80 other pro fights.
"We were good and we liked the attention that we got. But boxing is on a different level. This is an amazing generation."

Foreman on that a side meth. His generation(s) kills this generation, from the top down. So much more overall talent. Big George is always giving more props to people than they deserve, he's a positive guy like that.

Let's look at '76-'78 for example:

Heavyweight:
Ali
George Foreman
Ken Norton
Larry Holmes
Leon Spinks

Middleweights
Carlos Monzon
Marvin Hagler
Bennie Briscoe
Wilfred Benitez

Welterweight
Ray Leonard
Tommy Hearns
etc

Lower weights
Roberto Duran
Alexis Arguello
Wilfredo Gomez

Then we can fast forward to a couple years after his historic comeback:
1990
Julio Cesar Chavez
Pernell Whitaker
Michael Nunn
Riddick Bowe
Meldrick Taylor
Julian Jackson
Mike McCallum
Chris Eubank
Nigel Benn
Evander Holyfield
Mike Tyson
Michael Moorer
Myung-Woo Yuh
Khaosai Galaxy
Azumah Nelson
Hector Camacho
