Never got into comics or marvel universe but both seasons of shield are on Netflix so I watched them. Like someone else mentioned, you could take out the marvel references and it would be sort of Fringe-like. Overall I liked it except for parts that tied into the films with minimal explanation because I haven't seen most of them.
