Pimp, why the fuck does he need fans to tell him about his career/express which way to take his music career in? Does he not understand his own brand? Does he not understand it's up to him and it's his career? Find your market and stick to it. If not, "BLUE OCEAN" and go from there.

I don't want to see ANY PERSON addicted to drugs. I have seen drug addiction in my family, saw alcoholism, you name it I saw it. Other people here, however, might have a different take on those issues so you can't expect them to have the same outlook as maybe you or I. It would be nice however, if they did and maybe a bit more constructive but they aren't.
And I'm speaking from an artist perspective (first album to be released this year, just finished mixing), an engineers perspective, from a business perspective (since I own my own company and IP now) and from the perspective of a nigga who shook the block once he got hit by the recording bug. As for Mess, I only met the man twice, it was "Hi and By" and I didn't even know who he was the first time. Did I listen to his music? No, but I know he had an influence on bay music just like you and every other rapper mentioned in this thread. The problem is, people have a right to express themselves no matter how fucked up it may be.
He's probably the same way. But HE needs to recognize what he has. He has people willing to PAY for his product yet he is pissing it down the toilet doing shit that makes no sense. Every muthafucka doing music, especially in the bay, needs to come off that shit.

Tay, it's different if you are putting your life out there. If a person stay in the house, don't fuck with no one on no levels and then someone is going in on them that is wrong. However, this man gets PAID to put his life on front street. So what if he isn't here to defend himself? Defend himself from what? Criticism? And yes, I met him twice and DON'T know him, just like I met YOU once in Vallejo (when you stayed in the apartments by Blue Rock Springs) and don't know you (outside of board interaction) and you probably don't even remember when it was or remember us meeting. However, YOU are not pissing your opportunities down the drain like he is so of course he is going to catch heat. Yes, he may be your brother, that's cool and all, but at some point you have to let your brother hit rock bottom before he can climb back.

They don't know how long it takes to come up with music, how it has to be properly recorded, how you can stay up for hours mixing one record, how you may have conflicts with the mix engineer, how the budget might not be there and now you figuring out how you gonna pay the mastering engineer, how the art guy fucked up the pics you sent him for the cover, etc. THEY ONLY SEE THE FINAL PRODUCT. So you can't expect for them to have a personal interest outside of what they're spending their money on. You can't expect them to keep it real, move like you move, give a break like you do, etc, because, at the end of the day, they are a paying customer. Once that song or album goes off, it's back to whatever life they lived before. So no one should take any of this personal as it's simply part of the business we chose to enter. And again, it's different because you know him, but there are times when even when you know a cat you have to step back and just let it go.

We aren't debating and we aren't on different pages for the most part. All I'm saying is take more responsibility for your career. I'm not kicking him while he is down, I have spoken no ill of him whatsoever. If others do it, see it and move on. But do get at him he might really need that right now.
