The only mandatory Kovalev currently has is Mohammedi (IBF). I'd be surprised if Beterbiev/Cloud was a mandatory considering he was only 5 fights in and didn't seem like he was going to be fast tracked until the Cloud fight came up.

I don't think if I give him a legit chance yet. The Cloud win was big time but I'd like to see him in another fight against someone solid just to see.

I'd have to pick Kovalev over Stevenson too. Although we don't have to worry about picking that cause it's not going to happen.

The fight won't happen at all. Kovalev pretty much said it after the fight. I mean, the house was jammed pack with GBP fighters and none of them were shown on TV. Kovalev knows that any Haymon fighter will not be shown on HBO until Haymon starts giving the fans the fights we all wanna see.

And for people who think Stevenson would a fight with Kovalev just didn't see how good of a boxer Kovalev is

Im just saying he's been knocked out cold and that I seriously doubt he can handle Kovalev’s power. But he's over there in Showtime with Al Haymon so the fight probably won't happenaanytime soon. I think Artur Beterbiev has a legit chance of beating both Kovalev and Stevenson, he's another killer rapidly on the rise. I think he may be mandatory to one of Kovalev’s titles in fact.

Kind of funny how history repeats itself. I think after tonight Kovalev is clearly viewed as the best 175 fighter, is the unified champion, yet one guy in Stevenson is the lineal champ, similar to when Roy Jones was dominating 175 yet Michalczewski was the true lineal champ.
A ton of fighters have been knocked out cold. Pac is a prime example of a fighter who got knocked out cold and came back. I think he can handle Kovalev's power and I think he can handle Kovalevs speed as well which is something I think Bhop severely underestimated. Can Kovalev handle Stevensons power? Look at his KO percentage, they are in the same range and Stevenson has knocked out or tko'd higher caliber opponents.

And yeah, Beterbiev is a killer on the rise, I can see him beating both guys as well. And yes it is history repeating itself but I think NOW is the right time for Stevenson and Kovalev to fight, which is what I was saying some time ago. You see how many people are talking about this fight now? Shit man, even my mom knows about this fight (seriously) and what happened, and now is the time they can make this fight AND I think it'll do well on PPV.

But let me say this, if I don't see any movement from Stevenson's camp, to push this thing through, then I don't know what to tell you...

I posted the emails and proof that Stevenson's camp came with after months and months of Duva and Kovalev lying. After that info was released Duva and Kovalev went silent. Crickets were chirping, the house was empty.

Stevenson by ko in ten.

Bullshit. If they weren't shown on tv how the fuck do you know the house was "jam packed" with GPB fighters?

And don't make it seem like this is Haymons fault. I already posted the emails Stevenson's camp released after Duva was caught lying for the last time. The emails explain the contracts, the offers, etc. It was HBO who chose to low ball and rape BOTH fighters while wanting to rape Stevenson in the long run.

They could have matched the offer, they didn't, end of discussion, Haymon had NOTHING to do with this.

ETA: Battle, are you talking about fighters in the crowd or the actual card?

^^^ They were in the crowd. Did you stream the fight or watch it on HBO cuz it was clear throughout the fight that they were there
HBO and I didn't see many of them there, because, I wasn't really looking but they did show one or two and say something about them. Also, we didn't get to see the entire card, only two fights. That was weak.

I always hate the guys that beat Hopkins except for Kovalev. He fought great and intelligently but most of all showed respect and class afterwards so for me it was like a passing of the torch to Kovalev who is clearly the number 1 175 pounder.

A lot of people doubted Hopkins would even step in the ring with Kovalev. And then they said Hopkins would look for a way out, clinch, headbutt and cheat. He didn't do any of that. Obviously Kovalev was way too much for Hopkins so his offense was extremely limited but he hung in there and took some huge shots that I guarantee would have knocked out most men. He didn't quit despite obviously being dominated and hurt multiple times. In the process he attempted something truly great and although he lost that's more that can be said for most young fighters of today's generation who stay clear of tough challenges. Bhop is the man and Kovalev is the true king of light heavyweight, respect to both men.

Kovalev showed a lot of respect in the ring. Naturally he would have bumrushed pretty much anyone bar Hopkins. He knew B-Hop would be hard to hit, let alone stopped. So what he did is what a smart boxer does, pick and choose calculated shots. Gotta love Hopkins though, dude is nothing short of a legend. I'd favor him against Stevenson as ridiculous as that may sound, but he gotta bring out all the bag of tricks and be a bit more active. When he fought against Taylor, I thought he would have won easily if it was a 15 round fight. His biggest pet peeve is starting off slow and giving away early rounds. Needless to say, dude is unparalleled and unlike anyone else.

Yeah that's why I was impressed with Kovalev it wasn't just youth that won it was his intelligence, staying patient, sticking to a plan, etc.

I'm just glad Hopkins went the distance. Never being stopped in a fight in over 25 years of fighting as a pro is kind of a big deal to me. That's such a tiny percentage of fighters who can say that.

Sadam Ali looked great. I was exxtremely impressed and his stock went way up. I can't wait until they televise his next fight. With the way PPVs have been going lately he could catch a co-main with the beating he put on Abregu.

Also, I'm not sure what Kovalev does from here but I'm sure they will give someone in the top 10 a chance. I doubt he goes from Hopkins back to the people he was facing before.

Yeah he said he wants one last, champion fighter. I don't know if that means he'll be competing for a belt, or if it will be like a 170 catchweight type of deal. Whatever it is I just hope he doesn't fight Golovkin. Or any other big punches. Froch, Ward, Dirrell, that's OK. He took some big shots that may have dented his chin a bit I just don't want him going out with a KO loss on his record.

I'd prefer to see him fight some chump with a glass chin in Philly so he can leave with a KO and a smile after a decade long drought but I guess he says he won't do that and wouldn't be motivated.

He obviously has nothing left to prove he should retire, but I'm sure like so many before him, after being in the game for so long it's hard to walk away. He's a creature of habit and after having the same routine for 26 years probably hard to break.
