Jay Rock left Strange Music

Haven't seen anything posted about it. As reported by HipHopDX yesterday. It seems Jay Rock is officially off of Strange Music as well. Tech has let the last of the true gangsta music go.

"Jay Rock is now officially all the way TDE," he adds. "We did what we was s'posed to do. We got him off Warner Bros. They were sitting on his records and wouldn't put it out. We snatched him off of there, put out his first record, Follow Me Home, and it's fuckin' beautiful. Now, TDE is poppin' with Kendrick [Lamar], his family, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad and [SZA] and Ab-Soul and he needs to be where his family is. His family is over here, as well. We're his extended family. But it's always been TDE for Jay Rock. Strange Music was that other family member that gave him a boost, and now [TDE] got what they need to put him where he belongs with TDE. Now he's 100 percent TDE, and I told him 'You better murder it, Jay Rock. I love you, my nigga. Do your mothafuckin' thug-thizzle.' He told me, 'Thank you, big bro. You ever need anything from me, I got you. Thank you for what you did.' I'm like, 'Nigga, I'll still do it.' So, it's all love."

Yup, he dropped Follow Me Home back in 2011! And then a couple of mixtapes throughout the years, but stayed off-the-radar and basically shifted his attention to Kendrick and their group Black Hippy.

He was ALWAYS TDE even though he was with Strange. I respect Strange for doing what they did. It's how you treat a PERSON that you respect that has a great opportunity with his crew. The exposure level for TDE was much smaller at the time of the Strange deal and now they of course have GREAT momentum. Classy move in my opinion not trying to force him to release any more material. There is ALOT of respect between the two camps.

Black Hippy isn't a group. It's a collective of artists and producers that work with each other, but not exclusively. They've never put out an album together. Now, they've been featured on each other's projects, and even that mixtape came out with a bunch of their songs on it, but there's no focus being put on anything as a "group".

I guess his album on Strange Music didn't sell enough units. Along with the lack of promotion he got. That does happen a lot with artists on major labels and independent labels. However I am glad that Jay Rock is on TDE where he should be at right now.

BLH fulfilled his contract. He's done.

And Scoob is done. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he will collaborate when needed, but asked Travis and Tech not to make him create new albums. That came around when he disappeared.
