OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. (CBS Tampa)*– A father is facing charges after police said that he handed his son a gun when the boy threatened to commit suicide.Michael Yatsko is facing child abuse and neglect charges after he taunted his son with an unloaded gun,*WFTV*reported.The man told police that he was tired of his 13-year-old son “acting cowardly” so he handed him a .45 caliber gun. Police originally arrived to the home in St. Cloud because Yatsko allegedly slammed the boy’s head on a table. The next day, police came back to the home after Yatsko told his son that he didn’t love him and wanted the boy to live with his mother.WFTV reported that when the teen told his father he wanted to kill himself, Yatsko went into the boy’s bedroom, threw the handgun on the bed and told him, “Do it. Kill yourself. I don’t really care.”Police found the unloaded gun Wednesday afternoon and the 44-year-old father claimed at the time that he never left his son alone with it.Yatsko went before a judge Thursday and was granted bond, but was told he couldn’t contact his son and to surrender all his weapons.
