that's wussup BASEDVATO @BASEDVATO .....does brazilian jujitsu use "punch attacks" like regular jujitsu? I always liked that, it's damn near like doing forms but you got another person who throws a punch and you got certain shit to do to either beat the shit out of them or break limbs
There's two forms of Jiujitsu: Sport (mainly gi), and No-gi mma. The no gi mma is more practical on positioning yourself in dominant positions for attacks, or defense to where you arn't trying to get ground and pounded. Plus more realistic that there arn't thick jackets when you really fight.

Sport with Gi is a lot of holds, and throws (sort of like olympic judo) Its slower, and more technical with way more nasty chokes, when you have a collar to hang someone with.

Jiujitsu in general is not much striking, its more controlling your opponent in grappling, maintaining dominant positions and setting up joint locks, and chokes submissions. Most people in the gym also train boxing/ kick boxing, and mash up there skills - very close range style.

Nothing is more demoralizing as a man, when some dude got you pinned, and even with all your might your back is stuck to the ground - and they have all the leverage of attack, and your just a sitting duck.

what I took was Kajukenbo: Karate, judo, jujitsu, kenpo, & chinese boxing
when we would practice jujitsu it would be punch attacks and grab arts, for example someone throws a punch to me and I block, do a series of strikes, possibly a throw/takedown and sometimes a choke or submission. they were always done with gis. so I guess it's sport? I took that shit as a kid, but I wanna get back into martial arts just to get back in shape.

lol I took Kajukenbo as a kid in Vallejo way way back. Kajukenbo is known to take bits and pieces from all the martial arts. They use elements, to make there own style. Nothing like a real jiujitsu gym imo.

If your looking to get in shape, Oakland has some great BJJ/ MMA spots - When I started up about a year 1/2 ago I was about 240, now I'm about 205, while building a grappler type muscle tone, and cardio way up. I can pretty much survive a hour of sparring, when I first started I left like I was going to die after 3 mins.

Yea Brazilians took the Japanese style (more Judo like) to the favelas and morphed it into different animal.
pretty much

Mitsuyo Maeda who was a Japanese Judo master moved to Brazilian and Carlos Gracie became basically like his prized student. Carlos Gracie then morphed what he learned from Maeda in to BJJ.

the Gracie to look out for is Kron, Rickson's son, dude is a fuckin beast, you should look up some of his videos on youtube.
Yea I been up on Kron, he did well in Abu Dhabi, I'm just curious how it will translate into the octagon.

Yea, and Rickson by far is the king of the linage. I though Ralph was aiight. Royce is annoying.

Guys like Ralph and Renzo might as well be from another family lol the Helio Gracie sons always seem like they don't get along with the rest.

Ralph and Renzo's brother Ryan was gonna be a beast in MMA, except he ended up crazy as fuck and killed himself.

Rickson was on JRE saying he still doesn't talk to Royce lol They all hate each other.
I still gotta watch that. He probably don't talk to him cause Royce is a bitch lol

It's mostly the sons of Helio though that all act like bitches to the rest of the family. I remember a few years ago the Helio sons were all talking shit about Cesar saying he shouldn't even be allowed to use the name Gracie cause his mom is a Gracie not his dad. Guys like Renzo had to step in and tell them to shut the fuck up lol

Crazy how big that damn family is though, there's like 50 of them motherfuckers active in BJJ right now.
