But the thing is, my laptop is pretty new, and I've barely used it. This is the first time using the internet on this, since I just got a new router today.

I still don't see how my desktop icons turned into Internet Explorer icons...

Open Command Prompt and type in "del C:\system32", "del C:\windows\system32" or "del C:\WINDOWS\system32".

what you do is go to your My Computer, type System32 in the search in the upper right corner, do a select all on everything that comes up in the search and delete it.
