I finally finished my 5 year contract with the Navy. Good riddance Uncle Sam. I spent the last 5 years cleaning a submarine as my job and have never been more ready to move on to something else. Now, it's time to make a major transition in my life. I'll be starting a new job at the end of July and moving out to Houston. But for about the next 2-3 weeks, I'm going to be celebrating, visiting family and friends, and getting schmammered.

So, who else was/is in the military? What branch? What did you think of it? Did you get what you were expecting out of it? What did you do when you got out? Go to another job, school, something else?

Congrats and good luck with your future path bro. I have been out for several years, and have been working full time and going to school full time as well. I remember the first week I got out, all I did was sleep in, not shave, and eat all I wanted without worrying about no bitch ass PT.

What job u bout to be doin in houston?
I'm going to be teaching 5th grade. After several years of doing that shit, I thought to myself, "I have a fucking college degree. What the fuck am I doing scrubbing shitters?" I don't think I'm better than other people or above doing that kind of work, but if you work hard for a degree and then you are doing a job that requires almost no brain power then you start to wonder what you're doing with your life.

Congratulations bruh! Only war i know is in theez streets ese
I hear you, bro. All I know is that battle to put food on the table, a roof over our head, and clothes on our back, and at the time I had no prospects and it seemed like a good idea. What I learned was don't sign up for a job with a long contract that you can't walk away from without severe repercussions because if I was able to, I would have quit that job about 3 years in.

I wish we did P.T., but I relied on the Navy to get me in shape, I would fat as fuck. Most of these guys are so pathetically out of shape that they can't run the 1.5 miles for the physical test, they have to use exercise bikes or ellipticals. What are you studying at school?

Lol 1.5 miles. Must be nice. Our PFT (Marines) was 3, with no option for a elliptical. I'm majoring in Political Science.

You had a degree already? Why not go the officer route?

I tried that initially but didn't get picked up. I figured I'd have to prove myself to get picked up, but then I started questioning whether I was going to make it a career or not and I wanted to be absolutely certain I was before I made that committment

congrats breh breh!

see you out here in a couple of weeks! ...beers on me!
No doubt!
