First, Maddux was convinced no hitter could tell the speed of a pitch with any meaningful accuracy. "You just can't do it" he said "Sometimes hitters can pick up differences in spin. They can identify pitches if there are different release points. But if a pitcher can change speeds, every hitter is helpless, limited by human vision."

"Except," said Maddux "for that fuck Tony Gwynn"

tony had a lifetime average of .338 and never roided up. these days with steroids use so prevelant in baseball u never know whos cheating

MLB Baseball Home Runs - Leaders - Major League Baseball - ESPN

lol @ jose bautista. in 2010 and 2011 when he was roided up he hit a combined 97 homers with 227 rbi. in the 3 years since his totals are 70 homers and 187 runs batted in. shit happens when u stop roiding up

the bud selig regime is in a farewell tour after what seems forever. hopefully the new regime gets tougher on steroid users. test the players once a week and ban the roiders for life on the 1st instance of a positive result
