BCSO: Family living in home with feces, corpse | New Mexico News - KOAT Home
Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies said a man and his children were living in a house full of feces, and the man's dead brother was left in a bedroom
Terry Cunningham, 44, faces three counts of child abuse and neglect. Deputies went to his South Valley home after someone called to report a dead body. Authorities found the body and grotesque living conditions.
The home's landlord said he was about to evict the father of three because of the disgusting living conditions. He was also tremendously worried about the two girls and a wheelchair-bound boy who lived in the home.
The living conditions were so bad, several people called the Children, Youth and Families Department because they didn't feel the kids were safe.
Cunningham, his brother and the three children moved into the home about five years ago, according to their landlord. The older brother, who is in his 50s, had been dead in the home for several days.
Cunningham has three children, two girls aged around 9 and 11 and a son who is about 15. The children told neighbors they were only allowed to shower once a week.
Deputies said the children were living in a house full of feces. Feces was found on the floor and beds. The kitchen had dirty dishes in the sink and on the stove. The children's room didn't have a roof. It was covered only by black, plastic sheathing.
The house is in such disrepair that it has to be condemned.
The children are now living with caretakers, and CYFD is investigating
how the fuck can people live like this
