The Genius @The Genius
Don't know if you still post on here Lonny, but had you talked to Warrior at all since his hey day in WWF?

I think the WWE is partially to blame... No they didnt hold wrestlers at gunpoint and make them take roids. But them not being strict on steroid use, and making champions out of the biggest most muscle-bound wrestlers is encouraging steroid use in a way... Its like the wwe said "you dont haaave to roid up, but if you should happen to accidentally sit on a needle full of juice we will keep it a secret, and you know how the fans love it when you guys are big and buff like that, u miiight just get the heaaaaavyweight belt!!"

Its like if fake boobs were hella deadly dangerous and illegal... And the owner of th strip club was like "yea it is dangerous andi cant make you get fake tids, but who knows, maaaaybe you get a raise and maybe we make you stripper of the year, and maybe you'll get more tips... You know how the fans love those big huge ta tas". Its the same kinda shit and it is encouraging dangerous shit no matter how u flip it

When Savage busted Warrior in the face with that scepter, that looked pretty real and looked like it hurt. That was a retirement match, that obviously only ended Macho Man's career temporarily, but that whole drama leading up to it and the match were all tight. That was maybe the best pin ever.

Also, remember when "the king" of WWF was a title that you could win? He was Macho King Randy Savage there for awhile. That title ended with him too, it was never passed to UW

Vince was basically feeding those dudes steroids and that's why he was being pursued by the federal government. Then he threw Hulk Hogan under the bus in that whole thing. The list of dead wrestlers that were in their 40's and 50's is sickening. I can't remember who did the article, but they were comparing the deaths in wrestling to the deaths from retired NFL players. It was like 10 times as many have died in the same amount of time or something like that, yet the NFL concussion thing is like front page news.

Lol vince was always roided up himself too. Remember when he turned 60 I think it was. Gained like all this muscle and ended up on the men's health cover.

Basically the business was set up to reward the bulkiest roided up dudes like tazz said. Also they'd constantly be traveling in shitty conditions; buses cars that kind of shit with little to no rest between matches. To even stay relevant and make a livable wage most guys would pop pills for pain and take whatever they needed to keep awake and going.

Ric Flair was one of, if not the first wrestler to successfully demand and receive paid travel benefits directly in his contract. His whole "high flying, limo riding" etc was real, no one else got flights and transportation at the time. A lot of guys now have merchandising rights and make good money but RIP to all the guys who didnt and have paid the price

This is a major problem in the US, society always looking to place the blame on someone else for a negative outcome when it was an individual's choice and their choice alone. #mindofavictim

Ironically, Chris Benoit was one of the only wrestlers with a 7 figure contract when he offed himself and family. Think about how popular wrestling had been and realize that he was one of the only guys making that kind money

I agree with what you said, but you can't go from being The Ultimate Warrior or Hulk Hogan and work a normal 9 to 5. That's why I loved that they show that aspect in that movie The Wrestler. They weren't forced to do anything, but a lot of those guys helped build a larger than life persona with the WWF/WWE and once you get that high, it's hard to let go. The WWE wouldn't look so awful here if they had been treated like humans and given normal job benefits like most companies
