greg roman was up for a few interviews too.
i seen on tv they expect him to take a NCAA head coach position.

If he does leave its time to see if it was his fault we were weak in the red zone with bunk
pop warner formations and too predictable play calling

or....

if he was saving the team from themselves....
sure hope fangio or tomsula dont bounce this offseason.

Too many games where ONE play dictated the a win or loss. Too many points left in the the red zone. Less 3's , more 7's. Never been a fan of Roman, Fangio ain't nothing great really... he inherited that defense if you really think about it. I could care less if we lose them both, but Tomsula should definitely be considered for a higher position than DL coach.

CSN Bay Area considers 49ers CB Chris Culliver (knee) a candidate for a starting role in 2014.
Culliver missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL, but is on track to participate in the team's offseason program. With Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown, and Eric Wright all not expected back, Culliver will be in the mix for one of the 49ers' top three cornerback spots. San Francisco also figures to add competition through the draft or free agency.

49ers CB Tarell Brown is expected to test free agency.
Brown, 29, was the 49ers' No. 2 cornerback for most of the season, finishing with 32 tackles and 10 pass deflections over 13 games. Rather than re-sign Brown, San Francisco gave Tramaine Brock a four-year $16 million extension in November, but they haven't completely closed the door on bringing him back for 2014. ESPN.com's Bill Williamson believes Brown would have to settle for a team-friendly deal to return

ESPN.com's Bill Williamson believes the 49ers would only be interested in re-signing free agent CB Eric Wright for the veteran minimum.
Wright spent the first nine weeks on the NFI list and saw limited playing time as the No. 4 cornerback during the second half. There were rumors that the 49ers were concerned with his work ethic late in the year and he was a healthy scratch during the NFC Championship. Wright is unlikely to be brought back at the veteran minimum, but shouldn't command more than a one-year, incentive-based contract in free agency.

dammit i really wanted to keep Brown

This is an excerpt from Earl Thomas's site:

PRAISE FOR KAP
That was the first time Colin Kaepernick ever ran wild on us like that. Watching tape of him, we'd always see these explosive plays that he was getting against other teams.

It never really happened to us until last week.

He's a fast guy as it is, but he seemed even faster when you take into account the game plan they ran against us. It was unusual. They really seemed to want to keep the ball in his hands.

They were running phantom routes like they were trying to get open, but they were just decoys so Kaepernick could run, almost like it was a draw. It makes it tougher to get to him because you have to deal with blockers already down the field. It's always going to be a mismatch. When he gets into that second level with the linebackers, he's going to out run them nine times out of 10.

Sometimes, he can even separate from players in the secondary.

One of his strengths as a runner is his height. He has such long strides, it causes you to misjudge his speed. It doesn't look like he's running that fast. But once you get close to him, his stride is so long, he's just running away from you.

To watch that guy take over the game — he did a hell of a job of making play after play. That's a special player right there. He plays for the 49ers, one of our biggest rivals, but I have to take my hat off to him. He played a hell of a game.

He also throws one of the hardest balls in the league, almost like a baseball player, and it comes out like a fastball. Hot. The play I had against Boldin in the end zone, Kaepernick was jumping up in mid-air as he threw. That was a dime. I was kind of surprised he even threw it. They usually don't when I'm that close in the area.

Boldin kind of gave me the look of a crease route, like a post, so I tried to keep my eyes glued on him. In those situations when a quarterback scrambles, it becomes a little chaotic and you just want to try to stay with your man. Those are tough situations when you have to run in circles with your receiver. He'll kind of push off as you try to find the quarterback, and now you're trailing him as the quarterback makes a hell of a throw.

It was good offense vs. good defense and as a defender, I just think it was better offense. I should've made that play, but there's nothing I can do to change it. You just have to stay positive. The only thing I'd correct: I'd probably keep my eyes on Boldin a little bit longer so that I was in better proximity with the quarterback throwing the ball. I still thought I had a chance at the interception — that's why I cut him off — but I have to at least get my whole hand on that ball and tip it incomplete.

It's a learning experience.

A couple moves is like to see is signing Jared Allen, if he's willing to play for a ring and a low salary he would be a perfect rotational player in the d line. He's a south bay dude so u never know. I'm sure paraag can move around cap numbers and make it happen. Boldin must be resigned, Dawson too. I'd be happy to see whitner get maybe a 2 year deal and draft a strong safety, that is unless we break the bank and make a move for josh Gordon (id be fine seeing hunter or lmj moved to cle along with maybe a 2nd 3rd and 4th this year and a 2nd next year)

Kaepernick says contract must be "balanced"

A loose, lively and talkative Colin Kaepernick sat down with KNBR's Murph & Mac in New York City today to discuss topics ranging from his final, end-zone throw to Michael Crabtree, to Richard Sherman's post-game rant - "absurd," Kaepernick said - to a possible contract extension this offseason.

That last subject is perhaps the most pertinent. Kaepernick, who is scheduled to count a relatively paltry $1.63 million against the salary cap in the upcoming season, can extend that contract this offseason so that his salary is on par with the other top quarterbacks in the league. Last year the franchise number for quarterbacks was more than $16 million. He was asked whether he would tell his agents contract should be drawn in such a way that the 49ers will be able to sign other top players.

"I think it's a balance. You want to be paid fairly for what you feel like you're doing in comparison to your peers," Kaepernick said. "But at the same time, you have to realize, if we want to get Anquan Boldin back, if we want Donte Whitner to come back, we're going to have to make moves to get them back. And there has to be room for everyone. And that's something I'm going to let my agent and the organization try to figure out. But hopefully, it's a position where we can assemble the best team we need."

Boldin and Whitner are just two of 10 players who are scheduled to be unrestricted free agents next month. That list also includes kicker Phil Dawson and cornerback Tarell Brown. In addition, a number of young players, such as Crabtree, Aldon Smith and Mike Iupati are, like Kaepernick, eligible for contract extensions this offseason.

All-world stud tight end, Vernon Davis, of the San Francisco 49ers said on SiriusXM Radio yesterday afternoon that he would love to play on the same team as Peyton Manning before his career is over. Considering Manning only has a couple of years left anyway, this is something that would have to happen soon.

Even more damning perhaps is that Vernon doesn't seem to like getting laid out whenever Colin Kaepernick throws him a pass. This was something I saw all year long having watched a lot of 49er games. If I were him, I'd want to play for a better quarterback too.

I don't know about you, but the thought of having Vernon Davis and Julius Thomas on the field at the same time makes my head hurt - especially when factoring in Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker. It's like too many weapons man!
