Wasn't Simpsons doing this as well? But maybe their's was for Edna kraboble or whatever the hell her name is. Because her voice actor died, she may have been sick initially and died before being killed off on the show.
Anyway all these cartoons suck now, hence the need for crossovers and killing characters etc.
The best characters that had to be retired were Lionel Hutz/Troy Maclure since Phil Hartman's wife was a psycho bitch.

Yea, i know charlie sheen was the highest paid actor on tv for a while with two and a half men, so i know ashton kutcher is gettin breaded like a chicken strip. And he used to be a underwear model, he started with his bottom now hes here

Yea that whole show was based on charlie sheens actual life, its fucked up that they were afraid a new show with ashon would flop so they just replaced charlie sheen with him. And i think the producer was mas cuz charlie called him a dumb jew and did it on purpose so charlie would get bruce willis'd and also so he would think he was getting punked at first...
That show sucks now and yes family guy and the simpsons are going downhill... But family guy is in a worse position cuz people expect it to be really really funny and if its not then they are gonna stop watching it. Simpsons can survive longer because they use more more simple, casual humor and make it funny... Family guy fans expect it to be all-out the craziest shit u can think of, in-your-face push the envolope humor and thats harder to find new material for.
