99 was 14 years ago. to me not enough time has passed to call 90's "old school". i considered 80's rap "old school" in the 90's but that's more because it was still very early stages and not really a mature, established genre in the 80's. 85 vs 95 rap is night and day. 99 vs 13 not so much.

I guess old school's whatever you want to call it..

The old school/new school thing is a matter of perspective, I think that we can all agree that No Limit lead the revolution of rap turning into a south dominated musical form. You've got the original east coast stuff, the late 80s, early 90's west coast stuff, then the No Limit transition that went from the late 90s to the early 00s. Now there's a new transition as the internet delivery system kind of makes region less important (although you could argue its the chicago and DC era).

I'm sure nobody was thinking 99 when "old school no limit" was brought up.

3-5 year difference between 99 and the "classic NL" era and they were still doing the same formula from ice cream man. classic NL is probably a better term to describe that time period imo.

The first official TRU release came out in 1990. Master P said he had a tape before that, but I think it was a demo.

i was referring to NL in their prime as their classic era.. ghettos trying to kill me, wcbb, 99 ways, true, deep n the game, true 2 the game etc. minus a few collectors who wastes their time bumping p's demo tape? nobody would call some bullshit p recorded in somebodys basement in 1990 classic.

and this thread is about "old school NL" and I don't see anybody mentioning true's debut tape or master p's demo so people are talking about mid-late 90's NL as old school. anything else you want to try to correct me about?

I was just pointing out how long no limit has been around, since it seemed like you did more than mention what you consider their classic era. I did see people mention before mid to late 90's on here, but obviously you weren't paying attention. Any other pointless arguments you would like to make?

better than TRU - "True" or shit, even "Ice Cream Man" (if we're comparing apples to apples)? i understand that opinions are subjective, however i think most No Limit fans would not consider that to be the best of all time.

EDIT: fuck it heres a quick top 10:

1) TRU - True
2) Master P - Ghetto D
3) West Coast Bad Boyz 1
4) Master P - Ice Cream Man
5) I'm Bout It Soundtrack
6) Silkk The Shocker - Charge It To The Game
7) Master P - The Ghetto's Trying To Kill Me!
8) Silkk - The Shocker
9) Snoop Dogg - No Limit Top Dogg
10) Mystikal - Unpredictable

Honorable Mentions: Fiend - There's One In Every Family, WCBB 2, Mr. Serv-On - Life Insurance

I guess u never heard kane and Abels first album

Yeap, i too am still lookin for What's The Deal imgs.. It's such a big tape that has fallen into deep obscurity, for such a big artist, no one's cared to drop knowledge.
