mac dre presented that lifestyle to the masses with his music then when treal tv dropped everyone and they momma was on that shit.

i mean watch treal tv, that shit was recorded previously, obviously, and you can see the hyphy lifestyle was in full swing already
Radio never gave a fuck about dre until he died. Then everyone could name 1 song off albooboo and RD.

i agree. shit, when al boo boo dropped i remember going to the store with my boy to cop it i think in hayward. we use to slap his shit but the sound was hella different. his comedic lyrics is what we was into. his production was never my top favorite. he had slappin beats here and there but his presence on the beats is what made him original. dude could spit a verse and have a mufucka hyped up, laughing whatever..dude had that gift breh

False, 106kmel played his music for years. Back in the day it was mostly "California Livin", "Rapper Gone Bad", "Fire" and "It's Raining Game" and both Kmel and 94.9 started playing "Get Stupid" and "Thizzle Dance" weeks before he died

folks say they squashed their "beef" and were suppose to do more songs together. i also heard Mac Dre was gonna go the Snoop Lion route under the name Thizzy Marley and do some reggae style songs just like the "Murda I Wrote" track.
I agree 100%

Dre seemed to be going for a reggae feel in this too. maybe not with the voice, but the beat definitely. cool track for sure

I never heard fire or rapper gone bad.So 4 songs before he died? Td and GS was not played as.much before he died. After he died those 2 songs were it, MD had way doper songs that could have been made radio edits or even the stations doing it themselves but they never did and never cared too.

fact is he was under played and should have been the focus of the bay after he got out of the pen bc in reality romp was way better then the thizz era.

E-40 was/is a platinum selling artist with his own long standing fan base and that really cant be disputed BUUT, while he signed with lil jon and abandoned the regional sound to get crunk and try to go platinum again ridin the ATLs nuts... Dre was the face of the next generations re-invented sound. He might not have been the sole creator but he was acknowledged as leading the parade. Everybody else who got a minute of national exposure seemed ok with that too.(federation, the team, the pack, FAb etc..)
So when Dre died and E-40 grew dreads and tried to pick up the baton it did not seem natural, listen to everything before tell me when to go... E-40 mr. "inventor of slang" was not using any of that hyphy vocab, and didnt try to portray a hyphy image until he thought he could capitalize off the youngstas (thanks to his son actually being in touch with the new bay) but the fact is he didnt innovate none of that shit, he just jumped on it like a late 30s poser...

I am a 40 wata fan tho dont get me wrong...
just didnt like the bullshit he was on after loyalty n betrayal up to revenue retrievin

Mac Dre fan since Romp / Stupid doo doo dumb and the only Dre release i didnt care for was the game is thick 2 and i did like 3 -4 songs.. plus still respected the fact he was doin him and havin fun with it..

im a huge Dre fan but dude couldnt pull off the radio hits. RGB and Fire were sub par Dre songs. thats why his shit was rarely on the radio. it aint the radio's job to do edits, its Mac Dre's job or his label. Mac Dre coulda made waaaaaay better singles that woulda had him on the radio probably in other states. he chose not too or really couldnt come up with shit. im sure Mac Dre was bein scouted by majors cus of his sales, but dude coulda been so much more if he did the radio singles.

40 understood how to pick a beat and write for a radio single. he came up off that.

you never listened to 106kmel? they've been playing Mac Dre stuff for hella years (not just those 4 songs). they didnt play ALL of his songs but they always had some of his songs in the morning mix, westcoast wednesday mix, flashback friday mixes, lunch mix, traffic jam mix, late night mix way before he died. his songs weren't in heavy rotation but they did play them. i could understand if you were listening to 102.5, they rarely played any Mac Dre

Td and GS was not played as.much before he died. After he died those 2 songs were it, MD had way doper songs that could have been made radio edits or even the stations doing it themselves but they never did and never cared too.
Thizz Dance and Get Stupid was getting into rotation BEFORE he died. i remember this, because i remember driving to Rasputins to buy the 12" vinyl single that had both songs on it. I think 1 of the 2 songs even made it on the Top 8 countdown or whatever on 106kmel. I even remember DJing a Halloween party and people kept asking me to play TD and GS hella times...i probably used that record 5 times that night. and a couple nights later we hear the news about Mac Dre passing away and i remember saying to myself "fuck that's weird, cant be true...i was just playing the shit outta his record a couple nights ago"

fact is he was under played and should have been the focus of the bay after he got out of the pen bc in reality romp was way better then the thizz era.
that's an opinion though. don't get me wrong Mac Dre was making great underground rap music but in order to get on the radio you gotta have radio-friendly music that sounded similar to whatever was "hot" at that time. radio wasn't just gonna let anybody on. It's too bad he got out late because while he was locked up a lot of Bay rappers were getting record deals left and right. it was just unfortunate he got locked up while every record label was trying to sign almost every Bay Area rap artist

Tell that to the crackers in suits on the top floor that. The DJs have no control over what they can play.
