ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Giants are "well-positioned in the bidding" for Bronson Arroyo.
Olney adds the caveat that it depends on "how the offers develop from other teams," but it seems that the Giants are certainly making the veteran right-hander a priority. Arroyo reportedly prefers to pitch on the East Coast, but if the Giants throw enough money his way, he could surely be swayed. While not one of the sexier names on the market, Arroyo is durable and would probably fare reasonably well at spacious AT&T Park.

hes also 36 and wants a 3 year deal around $13-$15 mil a year and will get it somewhere. I dont know about that kind of commitment for the Giants. that being said it wouldnt be the worst signing and he'd shore up a rotation that's looking pretty thin right now. Jason Hammel on a 1 year, $4-5 mil deal wouldnt be bad either

^^^^giants considered a front runner for him

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants remain interested in Ricky Nolasco, but are unwilling to offer more than a three-year deal.
According to Nolasco's agent, his client already has multiple four-year offers on the table, while the Giants are rumored to have proposed a three-year pact. The Twins, Padres, Phillies and Dodgers are also in the hunt for the 30-year-old.

whats funny is if he already has several 4 year offers, why doesnt he take one of them?

edit: ahh, hes looking for five years, 80 mil

giants strongly looking at Tim Hudson. also looking at dan haren

Giants general manager Brian Sabean clarified this week that the Giants have no plans to move Buster Posey to first base full-time.
It's a question he has been getting often due to the Twins making the move with their superstar backstop Joe Mauer, but Sabean affirmed Posey will remain behind the plate, perhaps for as long as he's a member of the Giants.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports confirms that free agent Tim Hudson has an agreement in place with the Giants.
FOX Sports' Ken Rosental says the deal is worth $23 million over the next two seasons. It's back to the Bay Area for Hudson, who spent the first six years of his major league career in Oakland. The 38-year-old right-hander posted a cool 3.97 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 131 1/3 innings this past summer for the Braves and should fit in well in San Francisco behind Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum. The Giants want to add one more reliable starting pitcher to that mix.

even though he's older I think thats a great signing. very good move on the Giants part.

NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Tim hudson still has gas. I wanted the a's to get him back on the roster for the last 7 years.

I dont like how in that quote its says hes going to be "behind bumgarner cain and lincecum", when he should be in front of all three of them in the rotation.... except for cain arguably, excluding last years stat

the only thing about huddy is he broke that ankle last year... so, watch out for that.

yeah hudson is coming off ankle surgery but he should be a go, with no problems. 38 years old, like i said, but the Giants need a solid starter and i would take him over Ricky Nolasco and some other outrageous contracts. pretty low risk for the giants, and they need the help.

josh johnson on a one year deal would be pretty cool too

Henry Shulman of the San Francisco Chronicle hears that Josh Johnson has told the Giants and Padres that they are his first choices.
He has both clubs at the top of his list because they're near his Las Vegas home. Shulman says he's unsure whether the Giants have offered Johnson a contract, and they might no longer be interested after signing Tim Hudson. The big right-hander could be looking for a one-year deal as he attempts to rebuild his value.

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Giants checked in on Dan Haren, but that other teams are "far more aggressive" about signing him.
The Giants are in the market for another starting pitcher even after reportedly agreeing to a deal with Tim Hudson, but it appears that they'll be priced out on Haren. The 33-year-old posted a mediocre 4.67 ERA over 169 2/3 innings with the Nationals this past season, but he was much better during the second half.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Giants and Javier Lopez are "close" to agreeing to a multi-year deal.
Giants general manager Brian Sabean told reporters Tuesday that the two sides were "fully engaged" and Rosenthal hears that they are just working out the final details. With a 2.36 ERA over the past four seasons, the 36-year-old has established himself as one of the best left-handed relievers in the majors. The Nationals and Yankees were among the other interested teams.

Love that we are locking down our pitching in our POST-Zito era, but we need some OFFENSE! Them boys in blue arent gonna win games 1-0 all year. We need to put up some runs. Lets get panda, Posey and Pence some help! Just 1 guy who hits .275 with 25 jacks would be fine by me!!!! LOL

lol @ using the 3.97 era to throw out this Hudson signing. Dude has had an era over 4 twice in a 15 year career, while Timmy has posted ERA's over 4 the last two years. (not that I dont like Timmy)
