49ers injury report: Willis' status remains in question | CSN Bay Area

SANTA CLARA -- All-Pro 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis remains questionable for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans with a groin strain.

“Uh, we’ll see,” 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Friday when asked about Willis' outlook. “He’s progressing good every day, so we’ll see what the chances are tomorrow and the next day.”

Willis was limited in practice throughout the week after missing the Sept. 26 game against the St. Louis Rams. He sustained the injury late in the third quarter of the 49ers’ Sept. 22 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said Thursday he believes the chances are “better than 50-50” that Willis will be able to play. If Willis is not available, Michael Wilhoite will receive his second NFL start.

The 49ers do not have to declare Willis’ status until 90 minutes prior to kickoff, when the list of seven inactive players must be submitted.

Cornerback Tramaine Brock will be the 49ers’ No. 3 cornerback in place of Nnamdi Asomugha, who was limited during the week of practices with a right knee injury. Brock played well in that role against the Rams, as Asomugha was unavailable.

All the 49ers’ other injured players are expected to play Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the Texans expect to have the services of left tackle Duane Brown and linebacker Brian Cushing, coach Gary Kubiak said. Cushing exited Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a concussion.

“Cush is fine and actually Cush has cleared protocol and is ready to play,” Kubiak said. “He’s good, took all his stuff he normally takes and is ready to go.”

anyone still wanna say Niners are garbage? Seahawks lose to the Colts who beat the Niners, and barely beat the Texans who the Niners are scraping. So only that bad loss to the Seahawks separates the two so far, which the Niners will get redemption for in December.
Ok for one Seattle played Texans in Texas, not at home. Huge difference. Second, it was obvious that the Texans were going to lose after that heart breaker, Schaubs confidence is shot.

Third, Seattle played the Colts in Indy, not at home. Colts destroyed SF in SF. SEA nearly won. They had the lead multiple times and lost by a single possession game.

Oh yeah and of course Seattle destroyed SF in Seattle. You'll have a chance to even the score later in the season in SF but as of now, Seattle is ahead (and this is with three missing starting o-linemen, mind you).

Seattle lost one game by six points. SF got blown out in two games.

Niners are missing Crabtree, Manningham, Patrick Willis, Aldon Smith, Nnamdi Asomugha, Quentin Dial and Tank Carradine. not to mention our best cb in Chris Culliver.... we lost Ray Mcdonald tonight too, hopefully its not too bad

Seattle should have Harvin by then so that could even things out.

Injuries are a bitch though. One or two key guys go down and that's the season (I know that well when da bears were on a six game winning streak looking hot and Cutler and Forte go out for the season back to back weeks).

That's one thing about the NFL that sucks. Making it to the Superbowl partially is luck in just not suffering to many bad injuries.

yea and like i said the game was close until about 10 minutes left in the game. Big deal, they lost. and yes these games were at home but they were still wins. A lot of big talk from people on here when they did lose, and now the Niners are back on track and are gonna continue to win. See u in December.

Lol @ it was close until the fourth quarter! If only the game was three quarters and it wouldn't have looked so bad. Unfortunately its 4 qtrs man.

Anyways, like I said Colts beat SF in SF and Seattle lost a nail biter on the road. I guess we both lost so at the end of the day we're arguing over who lost worse lol. Fucking Colts
