You can make a usb stick, Id learn to use BT, the possibility's are endless, I run it as my primary OS, linux is so superior to windows its not even funny, my computers run like the day in installed them, and its a lighter footprint, learning how to do command line will get you good jobs too.
Are you usin Linux or BT as your primary OS?

internet speeds are way too slow for what people in the united states pay

the price reflects what it costs per 1mb of speed in the usa

japan is 27 cents per mb X 61 mb = $16.47 a month for service

fuck the fcc and cable companies for intentionally liliting speeds in the usa

the only investment i made was a $25 belkin wireless router bought at walmart
the wireless connection fucks up maybe 3 times a day but its better then paying a fortune for internet

Do I need Ubuntu/Linux(?) installed first or can I just instal BackTrack?

You just download backtrack iso from their site and burn it as a CD image then pop it into the computer to install. You probably need to boot the computer from CD/DVD drive.

You might be better off creating a separate partition on your hard drive so you wont have to format it of the system that you do currently use.
This way when you start the computer you get an option of choosing if you want to load your current OS or the backtrack one.

Also, once you boot from CD you should first run it as a LiveCD to see how it looks and whether it recognizes your hardware (internet card) or whether you'd need to invest in a card. Especially if you plan on doing some wireless hacking, you should make sure that your wireless card is even capable of injection. If not, there are some cheap ones (40$) that you should get.
