a small piece of hypocrisy presented on the dvd is when tech admits to censoring serj's original lyrics for the chorus...so we went from "fuck the industry" to getting one of your "heroes" on a song, only to censor his material because your afraid people will think your a "devil worshipper"?

totally unacceptable (imo) the original line serj penned for the hook fits the song better and is much more powerful.one minute tech wants to use all his dark imagery and claim he doesn't care what anyone thinks cause he's true to himself blahblahblah than he is afraid of the ignorant conclusions religious folks will make.this is an unfortunate example of tech compromising art to attempt to cater to all those he has always stood against.

I thought the original sounded better. They should have played it on the DVD.

Anyone have a link to the footage talking about the original chorus? Or can you at least post the line?

EDIT:
Never mind. Found it. I feel like they both work fine and if Tech prefers "reading" instead of "burning" then that's his choice as an artist.

I've thought about it a lot and I ultimately agree. I mean, it's his album and he says what's a "go" and what's not.

yet he let king gordy really go in on jesus or god....but that was before he went certified sell out
And it cost him a huge review in XXL.

As far as sell out goes: Tech could rap on the most generic trap beat in the world with Miley Cyrus on the hook but no matter what you're still going to get a Tech N9ne verse with a Tech N9ne approach to it. Not some generic bullshit with zero substance and creativity.

Wanting to make money, collaborating with artists you like and trying to get recognized by the masses all while staying true to yourself as an artist is not selling out. He deserves to get recognized by popular media for his craft. What artist wouldn't want that?

For instance:

Anghellic Shouldn't sound the same as Something Else does but regardless you're still getting Tech N9ne and he never sacrifices his lyrics or style, his "fuck you attitude" or his Cheas in any situation no matter what the circumstance may be.

Certified sell out? Really?

That's beyond an ignorant statement bro. What classifies him as a sell out? Because he did songs with Wayne and t-pain that got no radio or tv play? You can't say it's because of his beat selection because those are nothing like what you hear mainstream rappers on. We sure as hell know its not his lyrics that have gone mainstream. So what has? Because he doesn't wear a Fuck the industry t-shirt on tv anymore? Has he done more to appeal to the masses? sure I'll give you that. But his message from jump was to get his music to everyone. So he changed what he had to to get his music everywhere. that in no way carries the title of selling out.

Please. nothing about tech has gone mainstream can't you just be happy for a mother fucker that is finally getting the recognition he deserves? Post ANY other mainstream rappers music that in any way sounds like Something Else. nobody big is putting out shit like that...

How is it hypocrisy? He doesn't want to be branded as a devil worshiper, and never has. So how is it wrong for him not to want something on his album that will create that stigma? He's obviously a religious person, so isn't "protecting" that actually staying true to himself?
Well there was the King Gordy incident lol. I'm sure he got a lot of flack on that one haha

you know damn well tech/strange/ TOG is paying for reviews and MTV..its the way of the world..you spend money to make money

censoring an artist yet he himself said at strange let the artists have full control of what they want to say...they let lynch spew 3 albums of pure trash yet "edit" 1 word for fear of backlash...i guess im just not a fan of what im seeing or hearing anymore...gordy got away with it on KOD and as a non religious no god believing in person i felt uncomfortable listening to his verse...but that was what strange ..built around non conformity to what should or shouldnt be accepted...now here you have serj saying "burning" which i find it not offensive in the least since the bible is a man written bedtime story to keep people in check..but whats most offensive is the fact that strange decided to censor it like they're MTV...another thing concerning to me is the "cult" shit tech has been portraying as of late..we moved far beyond the devil worship stuff which honestly i never or ever heard anyone think he was a devil worshiper until tech started talking about it..it may have been something to spark conversation..but this cult shit is on some other shit..the fact that he puts that pledge on his albums roughly 2-3 times on the albums is purely for subliminal purposes meanwhile feeding the "no faced" masses the illuminati wafers with tech acting as a priest of some kind is very strange to me..maybe i have changed, maybe i have started thinking further outside the box..but to me in tells me tech sold out maybe not to the industry but maybe to something else

the hypocrisy is that tech will never say "i will censor my material out of fear of the misguided religious fools misinterpreting my art and making false claims about me and my beliefs"...actually, he has ALWAYS said the exact opposite.thats the definition of hypocrisy.

tech has always liked to play around with the moronic people who like to call him a "devil worshipper" w/almost all of his projects up until now...to do a complete 180 @ this point and actually censor the contribution of one of the most respected artist tech has ever actually worked with out of fear of these same morons...thats upsetting to me.

mysticoracle nailed it...the devil worshipper shit never held any legitimacy, but this "cult leader" angle tech is loving these days is a huge turnoff to anyone over the age of 15.tech's ego is a little out of control w/how much he loves preaching that his fans are like a cult and he is this all powerful cult leader.that shit and the repetition of "the pledge" throughout his last 2 albums is far more offensive than "burning bibles"

and the thing about "devil worshiping" n all that is bullshit....if tech didnt want to be put in that light he wouldnt start his albums with "devil boy" n his single "bitch" wit that church shit.

while he's not a devil worshiper i thin he likes the attention/fans he gets from it thas why u see that bullshit all over his work

The ONLY thing they pay for in regard to media is commercial ad time. They DO NOT pay for shade 45/BET/MTV appearances and video play. That is probably why there is still no "regular" play. You must remember all they care about is views and ratings... When Tech is on TV people tune in... There is no denying that. The MTV specials were done at their request.

You guys have to remember Techs mind state during KOD. He said allowed alot of stuff out of being in a fucked up mind state. Honestly overall KOD is my least favorite album but mainly because I hated seeing my bro like that for the world to see. I have always liked his decisions to let people hear whatever is going through that head of his, but if you saw him behind the scenes you could see he was extremely troubled during that time.
