AMIR KHAN SAYS HE'S AGREED TO FACE DEVON ALEXADER: "IT'S DEVON WHO NEEDS TO SIGN"

According to his official Twitter page, former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan has informed his promotional company, Golden Boy Promotions, that he agrees to face IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander. Khan made the announcement earlier today among a series of tweets that seem directed more towards undefeated welterweight contender and fellow British-native Kell Brook. For whatever reason, however, Khan seems to think that it's Alexander who is reluctant to agree to the fight, despite the fact that Alexander's trainer, Kevin Cunningham, has repeatedly stated otherwise. Stevens vs Golovkin? Not so fast says Stevens promoter and trainer
The Golovkin fight is now Stevens’ if he wants it. Golovkin’s promoter, Tom Loeffler, told SI.com on Saturday that he was very interested in matching Golovkin against Stevens in November, when he has an HBO date at Madison Square Garden. The exposure Stevens has gotten this year fighting on NBC Sports Network and his Brooklyn roots makes him a natural fit.
But while Stevens wants the fight, there are strong indications those in his camp want to wait. Main Events CEO Kathy Duva has expressed reluctance about rushing Stevens into a Golovkin fight, believing (probably correctly) that if Stevens keeps clobbering opponents the fight will still be there, and possibly be bigger. Stevens’ uncle/trainer, Andre Rozier, who has trained Stevens since he was five-years old, also prefers to wait. It’s certainly possible that Golovkin’s team, with HBO’s cash, approaches Main Events with an offer too good to pass up. But right now it’s looking more likely that Stevens will be back in November, just on NBC Sports.

Yeah, I love how Martinez' manager said Golovkin should fight Stevens next and that beating guys like Macklin and Murray doesn't mean anything since Martinez already beat those guys. Always something with team Martinez. "Golovkin who", then it was "who has he beat", then he's "not a big enough name" and now that he's one of the biggest names on HBO its "go fight a fresh new up and comer".

Earlier today, multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and former lightweight champion Brandon Rios made an appearance on ESPN's First Take to promote their upcoming November 23 clash in Macau, China. Though both fighters started off talking about each other, it didn't take long for Floyd Mayweather's name to enter into the discussion. "I mean, for me, I'm willing to fight [Mayweather] because that's what the fans want to see, that fight. I mean, if he want to fight, the fight will be," Pacquiao replied when asked by co-host Skip Bayless if he would ever fight Mayweather. Pacquiao's own promoter, Bob Arum, also recently suggested that a future clash between Mayweather and Pacquiao could still take place, potentially in Asia, provided, of course, that Pacquiao gets past Rios in November. Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe, however, quickly put an end to any discussions regarding Mayweather vs. Pacquiao during a recent conversation with FightHype.com.
"In my opinion, there is a consistent pattern by the Lil' Fella's promoter and publicist to mention Floyd's name in order to bring attention to a fight that nobody seems to care about," Ellerbe replied when asked for his opinion on the recent comments made by both Arum and Pacquiao. "To set the record straight, there's is no Floyd vs. Manny fight happening, period! Yeah, in my opinion, he's a good fighter, but they all need to be concerned with the multiple losses the Lil' Fella suffered recently and go correct that," Ellerbe added. "I think that Brandon Rios is a very good fighter, so he [Pacquiao] needs to be worried about him."

I'm going to be the toughest fight that Amir Khan has ever been in. I'm telling you, he's gonna get knocked out...If they put anyone in the ring with me to try to get to Floyd, it's the wrong decision...You can't put him in the ring with me because I'm going to hit you on your chin. I'm still strong, I'm still fast, I still have punching power, and I'm getting better," stated future Hall of Famer "Sugar" Shane Mosley, who is still eyeing a potential October clash with Anthony Mundine, but would love an opportunity to knockout Amir Khan and derail any future plans for a Mayweather showdown. SM: You know, me and J [Prince] talked about it and they offered it, so that's what we're going to take, you know what I'm saying. When they send over the contract with $1.5 million, like they said they did, then we're going to pack our suitcases up and go over there to Australia. They said Mundine signed already and I was going to sign, but I mean, they're not putting the money in escrow. They're acting funny with the money. He said he wanted to come down to 54 to fight me because it would be big in Australia, so I said put the money in escrow and we can get it on.
BT: I mean, if he wants the fight and they're saying $1.5 million is the offer, I don't understand what the hold up is then.
SM: Well, the money's not there; there's no money. I'm not going to take the gamble and fly out there for nothing. If they want to secure me to come out there, put the money in escrow and I'll come out there with no problems and give them everything I got. I don't understand it. I'll fight, but I'm not just going to fly out there without a guarantee.
BT: Yeah, that seems a little shady. Has Richard Schaefer, or anyone else from Golden Boy, asked you if you might be interested in fighting in Dubai by any chance?
SM: No. Nobody has said anything about Dubai. Why?
BT: Oh, I just heard some rumblings that the Alexander vs. Khan fight might not happen. Khan recently said he was looking at some other opponents, so I was just curious if anyone had contacted you.
SM: Oh yeah? Well that's nice. How much money (laughing)? Me and Bella just left Dubai, so I know what Dubai's all about. I've been there, so I know that they have a lot of money out there. But don't try to trick the fans with these lame excuses and acting as if you really wanted to fight Devon, when all the time, your team is out searching for some bum opponent for you to get a win over and get you to the Mayweather fight. That's the real deal," stated world-class trainer Kevin Cunningham, who strongly believes that recent comments made by former jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan are a clear indication that he has no intention of facing IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander in December. Over the past few days, Khan has repeatedly suggested that he's eager to make the fight, but for whatever reason, he seems to think that Alexander is reluctant to agree. On the contrary, both Alexander and trainer Cunningham have repeatedly stated their own eagerness for the fight, but they have yet to receive any type of offer or contract for it, which makes sense considering that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has been in Dubai for the past two weeks, reportedly meeting with investors to discuss the staging of the event.
Nevertheless, Khan has continued to make seemingly unfounded statements suggesting that Alexander does not want to fight. As far as Team Alexander is concerned, they're more than willing to give him a shot at the title, but he seems more interested in getting out of the fight in hopes of finding an easier path to a 2014 showdown with Floyd Mayweather. "As far as we're concerned, Devon's the champ and he's willing to fight anybody and everybody in the division that makes sense. It ain't no big deal, you know. We wasn't chasing Khan; Khan called us out. He called us out and Devon was ready to oblige him with a title shot, but it's obvious him and his team came to their senses and realized they better go find some old washed-up, bum opponent and get a win and try to go make the Mayweather fight," Cunningham explained.
