Anyways, its not about guns, lots of places have guns, you need to dig deeper for the cause of the violence and such a high concentration of gangs. This is a great article that shows the public housing disaster in Chicago is to blame:

Why Are There So Many Gang Members in Chicago?
It should be pointed out public housing on its own is not the reason. Many places in the world have that kind of public housing and they don't have crime, not just that but in many cases they have much better communities than most suburbs in the US.

The problem is that poor disadvantaged people were sent to those housing projects which in turn put a stigma on them (thanks to the racism of US society), which in turn perpetuated the poverty, and the cycle closed.

what happens in every ghetto is what we know happened to Detroit as a city. You got all this blk people mainly in the north there for work. Theres crazy racism but theres job oppurtunities so some people work move up buy houses and become middle class. but the coupling of white flight, the loss of huge employers, with the racism makes time for gangs and social clubs to become more serious and divert into the black market instead of fighting, smokin, chillin, drinkin. Then crack hit hard and boom major money into the dilapidated ghetto but all from the black market, plus these mufuckas got not social capital so they shoot the money right back out the hood to some rich or other mufucka for chains, straps, cars, this that etc.

now you got a generational shit where mufuckas have it ingrained in them this is how you live. this is how we live. You got some extraordinary folks who push and push, and push and make it. and some people with that one good mentor or whatever. but the majority is gonna be stuck where they're at. But slowly, half of the black community is coming up, and the other half will be a permanent underclass, which is sad. but 5 or 6 generations in poverty and violence that shit is in you.

its each individuals responsibility to not feed into those stigmas. your letting people play the victim role, and your mentality aint helping. if your white, i question your motive. if your not white, snap out of it. a lot of minorities feel stuck and fucked from the system, and i get that. some use that as motivation to rise up. some go with the flow and fuck them selves while they blame others.

theres truth in your public housing comment though. public housing aint the main or biggest issue. my city has 2 public housing projects. Vista and Conway. though those neighborhoods have crime, most crime is out side of those projects.

I tell my homies and relatives like this, yes theres racism and shit was designed so certain mufuckas can propser while others play into that in some kind of way, but you gotta try to push or you die. If mufuckas is against you , you cant expect them to turn around -cuz you point out there BS- and help you.

But i'm still aware of shit in the system that aint right even tho our country professing all this equality shit. It's not equality if you dont get the same starting point, the goal is just there for everybody to see. So on tht note, i know if some people run the 200 yd, and others run the 800 yd it's most likely that more 200 yd people gonna make it and make it before the 800 yd people unless the 800 yd people are extraordinary.

Not many make it though, look at the numbers. The poor stay poor. Plus certain environments/areas lack basic tools available to progress. If you were living in Cabrini Green for example in the 80's, early 90's, shit good luck man.

People forget when the ghettos were created. It wasn't in the 80s and 90s when the gangs were already rampant and crack had hit. It was long before that when people moved from the South looking for jobs. Those people were not crack smoking gang bangers.

Now it's a different story, but this is the result of generations of living in fucked up conditions..

while I agree with you, it starts with the parents to want something better for their kids.

20 didn't you post a good article about a Detroit school teacher who thought it was just all about him as a teacher and the quality of education, and when things were'nt working out and he looked deeper he saw kids who didn't have food, were homeless, taking care of younger siblings, moms on dope, etc.

Where is Obama now saying it could of been him? He is from there right??
http://www.politico.com/story/2013/02/obama-personalizes-gun-violence-in-chicago-87726.html

I don't like Obama by the way. I really don't like any politicians much, especially career politicians. But it looks like you should have done a bit more research before throwing him into the mix for not speaking on the violence in Chicago because he has and quite a bit.

Same with his wife.

The other stuff you said I do agree with though to an extent. But while like most gang violence that the black on black takes up a good chunk of it is far from all of it and especially in Chicago. There are a ton of Hispanic gangs there too. Hell, it seems damn near every race has some sort of gang in that city lol.

what motivated you breh. Like you had to have some sort of real positive role model in your life, someone.
the lack of a positive role model, the fact I never wanted to see the backside of bars, again.

Money motivated me, having a kid motivated me even more.

my years 7-21 were chocked full of mistakes, addictions, & setbacks... my only positive role model was my best friend who was very smart during the time I was being dumb, fast forward to me getting my shit straight & he fell off & was killed in cold blood by D-Boys.

Money motivation can be the downfall of a lot of these young men and kids too, especially when decent paying jobs aren't available to them you know what I mean.

Nobody cares when minorities kill eachother...its been like this for the past thirty years you think all of a sudden the media is gona make a big deal out of it??? The only reason the trayvon case was so big was because it was a kinda of sorda "white guy" who killed a unarmed black teen...when its "gang members" killing other "gang members" its business as usual in America...nobody cares about them because in societies eyes they are animals that deserve it or had it coming(which I in no way agree with). Obama don't care and lets keep it real u don't care either so why even make this thread unless your trying to prove the black community doesn't care???fuck why don't you just start a George Zimmerman fan club and end the charades.
I was mearly pointing out the fact that people don't care enough about black people and most only do when it was a white looking guy who killed a black person. I care about all people, just because I see through the bullshit in the zimmerman trial doesn't make me 'not care about black people'

That is crazy. I don't understand why they wouldn't intervene at the federal level. Look at Miami and how they stopped that city getting out of control.

gang members shooting each other is totally the same as "neighborhood watch" killing unarmed teen.

NAMO really cares about the black community besides the rappers he listens to.

NAMO is from America.

NAMO isn't a troll.

When white people kill each other NAMO really cares he doesn't just pull up specific murders to justify some skewed conservative stance.
Your racist and hate white people, admit it. You always take the anti white stance.

yall need to stop letting syko sniper troll yall lol
I'm not even trolling bro

I agree 100% it starts with the parents and a lot of black youth come from broken homes. Growing up without a father figure is hard.

Nope, the first link if from this past February and the one with the words from his wife are from April. Since Chicago was pushed into the media spotlight from the violence last summer (even though it's been going on for decades and is arguably better than it was a decade ago) he has talked about the violence in his hometown quite a bit as President.

I picked those two articles because they show them putting themselves in the shoes of the people living in the violence ridden areas of the city seeing you seemed to not know they had done so with your statement. There are quite a few times in the past 18 months or so he has brought up violence, among other things, going in in Chicago and the inner cities in general.
