The point is, if "we" continue to have knee-jerk reactions to these things and just automatically label these people as cowards, terrorists, faggots, and any other negative word we can think of...than we aren't getting any closer to preventing this from happening in the future. So if it makes you feel better to throw out a bunch of adjectives to no one in particular, to no purpose in particular other than satiating your impulse, than keep doing it.
The point of the cover (IMO - aside from selling magazines) was to put a different perspective on the face of terrorism, so "we" collectively don't continue to perpetuate the idea that a terrorist is some Muslim with a long beard, or some old scraggly looking white guy. The face of terrorism is changing and if we don't recognize that, than we are going to have a much harder time understanding and preventing it.
