I'm not from Oakland or anywhere in America. I'm french. I love bay area rap thanks to guys like richie rich, san quinn, iMP, CELLSKI, andre nickatina...and dru down.
I thought find in this forum true fans and not these dumbs who criticize everything (cf comments on hip hop dx).
Dru down in a studio gangsta rapper. Do you criticize Al pacino or de Niro because they aren't true mafioso. There are just two of best actors in the world. The last thing i have to say is that listen to dru down is always a great pleasure and i hope he will continue his carrer as well he did.
Who put oakland on the map? Dru down for example. A litte bit of respect...

I seriously don't understand what's the big deal with rappers going to jail / prison. It's like the fans anticipate a great rap album to be recorded upon his release (speaking in general).

The only one to ever do that & truly succeed was 2Pac. He signed to the hottest label at the time and dropped a dope album. Since 1996 rappers & rap fans have this illusion that being incarcerated before recording an album or signing to a hot label is going to bring out the best in you.

The difference? 2Pac had talent. And unlike rappers today, he showed & proved it in his music.

Mac Dre hit the streets after prison & became one of the biggest names in the bay setting trends & making the hyphy movement a known phrase still referenced today. So we can ad another to the list.

& Dru Down is successful in terms of bay area rap, he has CLASSICS under his name. Let us not forget, when you speak of Tupac, Dru Down was Pac's homie & was on "ALL ABOUT YOU" with Pac.

With all due respect, but Mac Dre did not get the worldwide love / attention / Classic album 2Pac did nor did he reach that level. Mac Dre was more of a regional success. And as far as Dru Down, B-Legit, D-Shot, C-BO, Richie Rich, Rappin' 4-Tay & E40 being on All Eyez On Me it was great for those of us who grew up listening to them & being close to the area, but them artist fell on deaf ears to the 6 to 10 million copies that sold. For the simple fact that it took 8 years & the unfortunate death of Mac Dre in 2004 for the Bay to even get noticed on a worldwide level in the new millinum only to fall under & get swept under the rug once again.

I'd like to send a big fuck you to anyone that thought/thinks C-Bo is a Bay artist based off of Tradin War Stories. Bo was one of the few featured artists on that album that I was bumpin way before All Eyez On Me
