you can upgrade the hard drive but its not SSD

Sony PlayStation 4 - Consoles - CNET Reviews
Well, it sounds like they arent sure yet how the upgrading will go (i dont know why they woudl change from the PS3, but you never know). My main point was that putting a SSD in a PS3 did nothing becuase of the a) bottle necking issues of SATA I being used and b) there is no way to utilize TRIM. I would think they would actually have support for SSD in this machine. Granted, a ~500 GB SSD costs around $350, i wouldn't go for it anyways. However, you can buy 120/128 SSD's for around $100 at this point, a 240/256 for around $200. Might be worth it if you dont need a shit ton of space and the PS4 can actually grasp the concept of what a SSD brings to the table.

I don't think SSD in the ps4 is needed, it will be fast enough. Later down the road as people open it up yeah for sure.

YOu can have all the RAM and processor power in the world, but if you cant retrieve and write data at comparable speeds, it will slow you down. SSD and HDD speeds are night and day. Not to mention, they disperse far less heat, noise, and consume far less power.

True, but they are too expensive to fit the consol budget and are not really needed just yet.
