Former Raiders wide receiver Ronald Curry has been hired to an entry-level position on the 49ers coaching staff.
Curry, 33, who played seven NFL seasons for the Raiders, joined the 49ers as an offensive assistant, the club announced.
Coach Jim Harbaugh served as a Raiders offensive assistant in 2002 and '03 when Curry was on the team. Wide receivers coach John Morton was also on the Raiders coaching staff in 2002.
"The 49ers and our staff are pleased to be initiating Ronald's coaching career," Harbaugh said in a statement. "Our team will greatly benefit from Ronald's athletic experiences, and we are happy that he and his wife, Stacie, are joining our football family."
Curry caught 193 passes for 2,347 yards and 13 touchdowns in his Raiders career. His final season with the Raiders was 2008. Curry was a record-setting quarterback at North Carolina, where he also played two seasons on the basketball team.
