Yeah, tornado today was crazy. Cannot believe it. I still keep buggin that my son would be going to the school that got hit today. 37 dead so far and possibly 30 kids still trapped in that school. 7 have been confirmed dead.

Tornados are WAY more frequent and catastrophic then Quakes out here in CA. I have lived here my whole life and experienced more natural disasters OUTSIDE of California. I have felt 3 earthquakes NONE of which even caused structural damage.

Good to know that all the sicc brethrens and families are alright, but one thing I will never understand is, if you live in a country/state/city were a natural disaster (tornado, hurricane, etc.) is common, why would you build a house out of fuckin wood.

Ever heard of the fuckin three little pigs? Brick mothafucka, BRICK! smfh

While I somewhat agree with you, even a brick house isnt going to stand through a tornado like this one.

....Man I just keep thinking of those kids. If those were my children I'd be going crazy right now trying to find them.

My prayers are with all of you folks out there right now.

Same here. Don't get me wrong. The people that die in the buildings are never the ones that built them. I still try to tell Chinese people about the Sichuan earthquake and why all those schools folded like fuckin cardboard boxes...but government shut down all discussions. The earthquake did it. Don't investigate...

That's the what the EF scale is all about. Brick won't withstand 200+ mph winds for very long and once the roof is gone, it's even harder to keep the house intact. My guess by the damage is that the winds were over 250mph. Some peeps after the big tornado that ripped through that area in 1999 started building houses with cinderblock filled in with cement, then brick on the outside and also had steel beams for support which is great and all, but that doesn't keep the roof from flying off. All you can do is have an underground storm shelter and realize that people are the most important thing and not care too much about your possessions. The warnings that are available, and intuition of people who live here, should be more than enough to easily survive a tornado with a storm shelter. Schools need better storm shelters and that should've been resolved LONG ago. Glad most of the kids were gone already, but my sister in law is still in high school and she was stuck in school til like 630 last night.

The house we were buying and almost had the loan done on buying the house is gone I found out today. I guess God has a different plan for us. I hope that family is safe. That whole neighborhood is wrecked something awful. Another house we looked at which was 2 houses down from the Plaza Towers Elementary is obviously toast. It's crazy that we were just in that house a month ago and now nothing is there.

Oh, and my in-laws house is safe but the first 2 streets in their neighborhood is destroyed. I didn't want to freak out my wife when I knew how close it was, but they are lucky to be safe/alive.
