Dungeon Family crew Goodie Mob have dropped further details about their forthcoming fifth album.

Goodie Mob (an acronym for Good Mostly Die Over Bullsh-t) were, Outkast aside, the principal figureheads in Atlanta hip-hop’s thrilling mid-1990s purple patch. Like their more successful contemporaries, the group – Cee-Lo Green, Khujo, T-Mo, and Big Gipp – specialised in tricked-out, musically ambitious Dirty South gospel-rap, typically produced in association wikth local production unit Organized Noize. 1995 debut Soul Food remains their opus, with their last album as a full ensemble being 1999′s World Party (although a Cee-Lo-free album followed in 2004). Cee-Lo has, of course, gone onto bigger and better things, with his contemporaries keeping a comparatively low profile.

As AllHipHop report, new album Age Against The Machinewill arrive in June. According to Cee-Lo, the album will sound like “Public Enemy on acid”, and will be “symbolic of wisdom being a weapon of choice.” The band’s manager Larry Mestel also promises a forward-facing LP: “It’s future-sounding. It’s not really what you would think Goodie Mob would be. I think people will be surprised in a positive way when they hear it.”

Age Against The Machine is due on June 18.
