RICHMOND, Calif. — A 1-year-old child was injured in a shooting in Richmond Thursday afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.
At about 1:15 p.m., police received reports of gunfire in the area of First Street and Macdonald Avenue. The city's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system was also activated, police Lt. Bisa French said.
Officers responded and found the child suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
The child was taken to a hospital and is in serious but stable condition, French said.
Police are still searching for suspects.
