As much as I love JMM, he would get destroyed the 5th time around. Pac was already breaking down JMM in the last fight and I think if they were to go at it one last time, Pacman would be back and people would start talking Mayweather-Pacquiao again. But realistically speaking, I think it's winner of Rios n Alvarado to fight JMM and a rematch between Bradley and Pac. Maywaehter has no good fights left under his table since there's a split between promoters and networks unless Canelo is next.

Robert Guerrero Arrested At
JFK Airport On Gun Charge

by David P. Greisman

Welterweight contender Robert Guerrero was arrested this
morning at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City for
allegedly having a gun with him, according to a report by the
New York Daily News.

The article cited an anonymous law enforcement source.

“The circumstances surrounding Guerrero’s arrest were not
immediately clear,” the article said. “Charges were pending.”

Online court records did not yet show any charges for Guerrero
as of about 10:15AM ET on Thursday.

Guerrero, 30, has been in New York promoting his upcoming
May 4 pay-per-view fight with Floyd Mayweather.

He last fought in November, when he topped Andre Berto via
12-round decision to raise his record to 31-1-1 with 18
knockouts and 2 “no decisions.”

MyFoxNY: "Sources say that Guerrero went
to the Delta ticket counter in Terminal 2 and
declared the gun to the ticket agent. As
required by law, the agent called the Port
Authority Police. Sources say that Guerrero's
gun is legally registered in the state of
California but he is not licensed to carry the
weapon in New York. The gun was not
loaded at the time of his arrest. Guerrero is
being charged with criminal possession of a
weapon, according to sources. It's not clear
yet what other charges he may face once the
case is turned over to the Queens District
Attorney."

Guerrero facing four felonies

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown today announced
that current WBC welterweight champion Robert Guerrero has
been arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport and
charged with illegally traveling with an unloaded pistol and
three unloaded high capacity bullet magazines.

The weapon and 15-bullet clips were discovered during a
routine pre-flight check-in this morning. District Attorney
Brown said, “I hope that Mr. Guerrero fights better than he
thinks. For anyone who hasn’t gotten the message, let me be
crystal clear. You cannot bring an unlicensed weapon – loaded
or unloaded – into this county or this city. And if you do you
will be arrested and face felony charges.”

The District Attorney continued, “Earlier this year, New York
State enacted the nation’s
toughest gun restrictions – the New York Secure Ammunition
and Firearms Enforcement Act of 2013 (NY SAFE ACT). One
provision of that law is that the penalty for possessing an
unloaded firearm is raised from being a Class A misdemeanor
to being a Class E felony. It is therefore more important than
ever that if a passenger chooses to travel with a weapon, they
should first acquaint themselves with the weapon laws of the
jurisdiction that they are visiting and comply with any and all
legal requirements. Otherwise, they may find themselves being
arrested and charged with a felony – as is what occurred in
this case.”

The District Attorney identified the defendant as Robert J.
Guerrero, 30, of Gilroy, California. Guerrero is presently being
held pending arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on a
criminal complaint charging him with one count of criminal
possession of a firearm and three counts of third-degree
criminal possession of a weapon. If convicted, he faces up to
four years in prison.

District Attorney Brown said that, according to the charges,
Guerrero presented a locked gun box to a Delta Airlines ticket
agent at about 6:46 a.m. this morning, March 28, 2013, during
checkin.

It is alleged that the box contained an unloaded Smith and
Wesson M&P 40 caliber handgun and three unloaded
magazines with the capacity to hold 15 rounds of ammunition.
Guerrero allegedly told authorities that he possessed the
unloaded firearm when he arrived in New York City from
Virginia on Monday, March 25, 2013, and that he has been in
New York since that date.

The investigation was conducted by the Port Authority Police
Department. The case is being prosecuted by the District
Attorney’s Kew Gardens I Bureau, which is under the
supervision of Assistant District Attorney Francesco
Catarisano, Bureau Chief, and the
overall supervision of Senior Executive Assistant District
Attorney of the Trial Division James C. Quinn.

It should be noted that a criminal complaint is merely an
accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until
proven guilty.

Clearly Guerrero didn't know the gun laws in NY. He obviously did the exact same thing in Cali to transport the firearm legally. He followed the normal procedures of having the gun unloaded and in a locked gun box, and declared it at checkout.

You can tell the DA already has a hard on with that sly remark about "hope he fights better than he thinks ".

Anyways, Robert may end up doing some time but that will come much later, after the fight.

You gotta know that you can't take a gun across state lines man unless you're a federal law enforcement officer, even if you check it with your luggage it's super risky. He should've known that. Sounded like a publicity stunt at first to me.
Nah you can transport firearms across state lines but it gets tricky in certain states or cities like NY. From what I gather Guerrero has done this from CA to Vegas and back with no problem. But he obviously should have researched NY.

206, I can't repond to any thread you're in because the sig fucks it up. :dead:

What was the name of that football player who had a gun in NY a couple of years back and shot hiself? Plaxico did time and I'm thinking Ghost will as well.
Why does it fuck it up?

The difference with Plaxico is he fired his unregistered gun in a night club. Guerrero, this is his own registered gun, it was unloaded and locked safely in a gun box, and of course he declared it. So one would think the two cases should be treated differently as Guerrero appears to have a least thought he was taking all of the legal measures.

I didn't think you could carry a gun across state lines. A dude I worked with got in big trouble for that crap but they ended up letting him go. That was driving though. I didn't even think you could carry a piece in your luggage if you checked it
Well how do gun owners transport their guns when they move or whatever? It's totally legit, except in places like NY.

LOS ANGELES - Early this morning Six-Time and Four Division
World Champion Robert Guerrero was checking in his luggage
at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City,
bound for Las Vegas, and, as he was doing so, made sure to
advise the authorities that they needed to be aware that he had
a firearm, which was unloaded and in a locked safe box with
his luggage to be checked. Guerrero was carrying no
ammunition and was within his legal right to possess such
firearm in the state in which he resides. He was then arrested.

At an arraignment held before the New York State Supreme
Court for Queens County, the court, after hearing the pertinent
facts of the case, released Guerrero on his own recognizance.
The next hearing in this matter is scheduled for after Robert's
May 4 fight against Eight-Time and Five-Division World
Champion Floyd "Money" Mayweather.

We are very pleased Robert Guerrero was released on his own
recognizance this afternoon in the wake of this incident and
that he is on his way back to Las Vegas to continue training for
his highly anticipated May 4 bout against Mayweather.
