there is still good music out there, but the pickings are getting very, very slim. the only good new music i like are old albums from the last decade that i am now hearing for the first time. sad but true

It's been like that for almost 15 years.

It's actually better now than it was in the early and mid 2000s - the internet has made it possible for artists to connect directly with the people and as a result there has been quite a lot of good music that has not passed through the filters of the major labels and, more importantly, was not made with the idea of appealing to them as the music that a lot of the technically underground but in realty hoping to become mainstream artists have been producing.

Shoot, music in 2000 was dope.

Hell, up til maybe 2005 or so shit was still slappin'.

IMO, 2000-2003 was some of the biggest time for networking in bay rap there ever was.

Then, everyone was 'networking' & it all went to shit.

Now it just sucks.

You're looking at Bay Rap (which, BTW, was nowhere near as good in 2000-2003 as it was prior to that), I am looking at the bigger picture.

The biggest thing around 2002-2003 were the thug ballads of Ja Rule. That's enough to give you an idea of the state of rap around that time

compilations are what killed rap. in 2003 it seemed like everybody was putting out mediocre compilations with only 1 or 2 good tracks as fast as they could because they care more about the money than the music. shit compilation were just a taste of the garbage soon to come in the future. mixtapes.

Harder to find the good music but still a lot out there...living in germany prolly makes 1000x harder to find good shit thow
Obviously the internet is your best friend when it comes to music. When I was living overseas, I kept myself updated and downloaded all the latest music. If your talking physical copies, then I feel where your coming from
