Fight of the Year - Marquez - Pacquiao Stream | Download

Runner ups:
-Robert Guerrero vs Andre Berto download
-Rios vs Alvarado download

Fighter of the Year - Juan Manual Marquez
Strong case can be made for either Donaire or Marquez.
Donaire fought four times this year, moving up to a new division, unifying belts and becoming the Ring Champion in the division. All within a year is impressive.
Marquez on the otherhand only fought twice, but his win over Pacquiao was not only a win, but a brutal knockout. That single victory was enough for me.

Trainer of the Year - Nacho Beristain. The man who knew how to beat Pacquiao and a true legend of the sport. Quite possibly the best trainer in the game today.

Most exciting fighter - Lucas Matthysse (TKO10 Ajose Olusegun, TKO5 Humberto Soto).

Runner up: Gennady Golovkin (TKO5 Proksa, TKO3 Fuchigami).

Event of the Year - Mayweather vs Cotto. $12,000,150 live gate. 1.5 million PPV buys.

Runner ups:

Pacquiao vs Marquez IV. $10.9 million live gate. 1.15 million PPV buys

David Haye vs Derek Chisora at Upton Park. 20,000+ tickets sold.

Robbery of the Year - Timothy Bradley over Pacquiao. Among the media scorecards, 121 scored the fight for Pacquiao, 1 scored it for Bradley and 1 scored a draw (sournce

Runner ups:

-Brandon Rios over Richard Abril - Abril boxed the shit out of Rios yet somehow Rios got the nod. - "Oh my god. That is horrible. That is absolutely disgusting. Somebody call the police. Abril robbed at judge point. - Dan Rafael

-Tavoris Cloud over Campillo. "How he (David Robertson) could arrive at a 116-110 score for Cloud is beyond my comprehension." - Al Bernstein

Worst event letdown - USA Olympic Boxing. Not a single medal for the first time in history.

The "I want to be Chinese" Award - Andre Berto.

Idiot of the Year - Lamont Peterson, failed drug test before Khan rematch. Peterson requested random drug tests, and fails.

Runner up: Andre Berto, failed drug test. Also requested random testing.

Worst bummer of the year - Paul Williams paralyzed in Motorcycle accident.

Biggest loss of the year - The Death of Emmanuel Steward.

Tearjerker of the year - Tommy Hearns tribute to Emmanuel Steward
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i39vSszaA0I

Comeback Fighter of the Year - Daniel Jacobs. In May 2011, Jacobs was diagnosed with osteosarcoma; a life threatening form of bone cancer. In 2012 he's said to be cancer free and has had two fights this year, beating Chris Fitzpatrick & Josh Luteran.

Biggest fight that never happened - no surprise, Floyd vs Pac.

Blood Bath of the year - Brad Pitt vs Joel Casey

Beatdown of the year - Adrien Broner vs DeMarco.
David Haye vs Derek Chisora

Only thing i dont agree with is ur robbery of the year, there were worse ones and the worst u did list as runner up. The way that people think Manny won by so many round still bothers me but at least he got knocked out in his next fight to make up for a lot of bullshit regarding Manny

Co-sign. Robbery of the Year : Manny vs Bradley was not a robbery at all. Manny lost all of the rounds from 9-12, that 4 rounds for Bradley right there. I had the fight a draw. You can't win a fight if you lose all of the championship rounds. Rios vs Abril is the robbery of the year Rios only won 2 rounds at the very most.

Fight of the Year: People are sleeping on Juanma vs Salido 2 March 2012 as fight of the year.

Most exciting fighter: Adrien Broner by far Perez KO 4th round, Escobedo TKO 5th round, and DeMarco TKO 8th round. He was putting in work in 2012 and making a lot of haters mad by KO'ing the #1 guy at 135lb.

Other then that 206 great post and good job.

I wrote a few articles as you might remember for bleacher report and though I could call a lot of stuff from memory and a lot was opinion, it's still a lot of research and work if you want to be credible at all.

I don't agree with some of the things but I respect most boxing conversation because I'm just glad it exists more and more these days.

I think Broner's resume is crazy soft so that takes him down a notch for me. I'd actually say that Sergio Martinez is a more exciting fighter, even if he's dominating and he's doing it at the highest level pretty much. Demarco was the best at 135, kinda by default. I don't take anything away from Broner's talent or skillset but I think everyone knew that Demarco wouldn't last long as a champion. I still also believe Brandon Rios to be far more exciting, win or lose, than Broner has shown me in any fight. Even Andre Berto, Danny Garcia, or Alfredo Angulo are quite a bit more exciting as a fighter than Broner but to each their own?

And how are you guys saying Pac/Bradley isn't the robbery of the year? I'm dumbfounded by that and will use that to say that boxing's judging needs stricter guidelines somehow. Too many grey areas for people to miss an easy fight to judge like that one.

Berto was in consideration for fight of the year 2 years in a row was he not?

Garcia's last 3 fights have been great to watch, even against Morales. That Khan fight was better than any fight Broner has ever been in and he's had some highlight reel knockdowns in a major way. What's not exciting about that?

Probably has to do with bias against Pac on this forum, I don't know. I mean when you take into account the media scores which I linked, 121 scored for Pac and only 1 for Bradley, that says it all right there. On top of that you had US senators and governors chiming in and calling for an investigation that shows the magnitude of the whole thing.

As for Broner I didn't think any of his fights were that exciting as they were all very one sided matches. Perez & Escobedo were highly outmatched and DeMarco didn't put up much of a fight at all. It's fun & entertaining watching Broner do his thing but I wouldn't say he's the most exciting fighter in boxing right now. Maybe the most promising.

And Berto lost both fights. Atleast the most exciting fighter of the year should be able to win some right. I cant award a guy on the losing end. Thats just me. As for Garcia in my opinion he is slow and throws haymakers with out looking. That knockout of Khan if u watch again he didnt even look when he threw that punch. Lucky shot if u ask me lol. He is a cool fighter but Khan was destroying him until that lucky shot. Khan is actually a more exciting fighter but again I cant award losing. We can just agree to disagree but Broner was the most exciting fighter in my book. Also remember we like different things in a fighter so exciting for u can be different for me etc....Just an opinion. Got Em!!

So because your fights are one-sided that takes away from u being exciting? Its not his fault he is a beast and he beats people down. Its fun and exciting to watch him work in my opinion. Thats why he wont have a fight of the year but he can win most exciting fighter. Two different things. Broner is always on a mission and its just fun to watch himbreak folks down to their very last compound lol. Got Em!!

People didn't think Gatti was exciting because he beat down his opponents. He was exciting because he was always in a fight and his style of fighting.

Like i said ive been entertained watching broner but its not like he's going to war, he's more of a technician who breaks down his opponents.

So its Broner's fault that he doesnt let people hit him like Gatti lol? Broner's style is exciting just likes its exciting to watch Mayweather. They have a similar style and its obvious why I like both fighters. There style appeals to me and excites me when they fight. I also love wars but again until someone can take Broner to war then its not his fault. Demarco tried after the 3rd round to go to war and fight toe to toe on the inside but he couldnt hit Broner or let alone stop Broner from tagging him. It probably wouldve been more entertaining if Demarco couldve also engaged but Broner's defense was to much even in a fight like that up close but Broner's shots were fun and very exciting and it was great to see him break dude down. Thats just me. Got Em!!
