And remember people freedom is not free...you always pay a price for a free society...this is another side effect of that just like a lot of other shitty shit in america....but when we start stripping ourselves of our freedoms out of fear( like the patriot act and extreme gun control) them we are the ones that lose...your freedoms are getting taking away slowly but believe they are...I just hope when you go vote for these types of laws you do it with a clear head and not out of fear

I for one want my freedoms and I am willing to take or deal with the shitty side effects like terrorist and psycho mass murders...straight up

Now lets speak on the real issue with these "types" of mass killings....MENTAL ILLNESS AND THE WAY WE TREAT IT...seriously im tired of people blaming it on tv,video games, guns and even parenting...yes I said parenting!!!! I had bad parents , played violent video games, lived most my life around gang culture, and whole lot of other shitty things and never once thought of going on a mass killings spree or hurting children....and you know what most people havent because most of us are sane and dont pop psychiatric drugs all day...these type of killings have been going up in recent years because anti-depression drugs have been being described to more and more people...and when you give a drug you dont really no about out to people that already have mental illness is a disaster(or mass killing) waiting to happen...

I guarantee this is the main reason why these killing are taking place more often...the reason it has not been put out there is because money rules over everything and legal drugs is the biggest business in America PERIOD....

We can talk about guns or Americas violent culture all day but remember drugged up mentally ill people are committing these "types" of crimes(no theory no debate)FACTS!!!
It's not the drugs, and it's not so much the violent culture - it is the social alienation that is the direct result of the direction the "American way of life" has developed in the last few decades.

Most of the people who do these kind of things are not clinically insane - they're usually the losers in school who feel left out of the group and who are very depressed as a result, and who eventually decide to get revenge on everyone in this way.

It is absolutely no surprise no gang banger has ever gone on a rampage shooting children or even random adults for no reason (cases like Big Lurch's due to PCP use, etc. do not count here) - kids join gangs precisely because gangs provide a social environment and a sense of belonging to a group, something that humans have an innate need for. So while there is a lot of violence in gang culture, it is always with an immediate purpose (how meaningful that purpose is in the bigger scheme of things is a separate issue).

There is indeed absolutely no reason to have cars that fast on the road. Not only nobody needs that kind of speed (which is illegal pretty much everywhere anyway), but they waste a lot of fuel, etc.

But that's not the reason why your analogies don't work - they don't work because they're not valid in general.

A car serves a purpose - get people from A to B. Same with planes. Both can be used as a a weapon, but that's not their main purpose.

Guns, on the other hand, have only one purpose - kill things, i.e. there is absolutely no reason to have them around. Very different situation
Since "purpose" is highly subjective...and humans can and have survived without either guns or cars, neither are integral to our continuation as a species. So the "need" for either is equally debatable.

Yeah exactly what I said they get "depressed" take "anti-depressants" and get worse...

Do some research all the shooters in these mass shooting in recent years have been mentally ill and or on anti-depressants...more facts

I was not defending cars if that's how you understand it - I am quite strongly against personal motor vehicles, for obvious sustainability reasons

Do you live in America???
Yes, I do

Because its pretty free minus the power police have, you can pretty much do whatever is reasonable...besides the social changes that need to happen in America it as free as it gets on this planet...
It's free compared to other places.

It's not at all free compared to what it proclaims to be

And it's most definitely not free compared to what it should be

I don't think you have the cause-and-effect relationship right here

LOL, everything that you have an opinion on makes you seem like some type of hipster queer.

Not everybody could take the bus to work, especially me because my job requires a truck and tools, and a whole lot of other jobs require a vehicle.

the media is stupid, I will agree. I think we can all agree that this was a horrific event. I don't pay much attention to the news, or politics. I'm not worried about a terrorist being on an airplane with me or anything like that, but the thought that some kids or some dude wants to open fire in a school does and has always scared me since I was in school. I have 2 young sons and there have been shootings in Arkansas, Colorado, and Kansas if I remember correctly while I was in high school. None of them were for any good reason. The one that people overlook a lot is where the kids pulled the fire alarm to get the kids to run out of the school and started dumping on kids as they ran out (in Arkansas if I remember correctly in the last 90's). Then there was obviously Columbine. It's a reason for concern at the least.

There have been metal detectors in schools in bad areas for years, since before these high profile mass-school shootings. Why aren't they being pushed more now? We don't need armed teachers, how about making sure guns don't get into the school to begin with?

My brother, "America" does not consist of one country

many U.S. Citizens forget that there is the Magnificent Latin and South Americas as well.

Some of the most mind boggling women i've had the opportunity to meet as well as have caught glimpses from a distance were from the "Americas" south of the u.s.
