Oscar De La Hoya ‏ O @oscard eLaHoya
I have it Cotto in a close tough fight.

Looks like Golden Boy is still going to try and push cotto vs Canelo. Cotto must really want another pay check. Mexico vs Puerto Rico, can't wait for this shit. Hope it goes down in NYC, time for some payback after what they did to Morales and Margarito out there.

Cotto vs Canelo in May then Mayweather Canelo in September.

Bwhahahahahaahahaha @ Dela Hoya and Bwhahahahaah @ Cotto/Canelo fight! What a joke! I literally started laughing when I read this. Its obvious Cotto is past his prime and isnt the same fighter anymore. So they are gonna fight the loser instead of the winner in a championship fight! Way to go Canelo! Im sure Manny or Floyd wouldve done that! Hahaha. If that fight is on PPV they can kiss my ass! Got Em!!

he's also a fighter that can make at least some of his decisions. Like I said before Cotto is a massive star, he's a free agent (meaning he dictates everything) and he chose to fight a real champion in Trout after the Floyd loss. He didn't have to do that. Golden Boy (or Top rank) could have made just about any fight he wanted. Fans would have paid to see a tune up fight. But Cotto chose to take a tough, dangerous fight. Canelo has that option too, politics or not.
No way of me knowing this I'm just guessing, but don't you think a 22 year old is more likely to listen to his promoters and advisers and not reject their advice compared to a veteran like cotto who pretty much runs his own show now. If Canelo was 32 years old then yeah by then the guy better be running his own empire but right now he's still just a kid in my opinion when it comes to the business of boxing. So far I think he likes the way his career is going and where it's headed so why go against the grain.

Trout beat Cotto. Trout's reach and size was too much for Cotto. Lol. At Canelo not wanting any part of Trout. Trout didn't fight a defensive fight like most people thought he actually out threw and out landed Cotto. It was a good action fight.

Canelo vs Trout would be a great fight, let's hope it happens. However, if Canelo can fight someone else and then face Mayweather for a huge payday, why would he put that in jeapordy? Others get props for going for the bigger payday, why shouldn't Canelo? He's still only 22.
some cotto fans jump a trout fan

that was weak shit it had to be some latin kings on that bs

I dont think no one is saying he is scared to fight Trout, however his camp knows thats its a high risk, low reward fight. If he fought Trout and lost, he would then lose out on some big money fights. My thing is if he is as good as they say and he hasnt fought anyone remotely good then how does he get a Mayweather???? He has to beat someone and Trout would be a good start. Got Em!!

Exactly! He is only 22 and is already calling for the top dog when he hasnt beaten anyone period! I can understand anyone wanting the big fight and not knocking his hustle if he gets it. But at the same time I dont think he deserves it because he hasnt beating anyone and I mean anyone! Got Em!!

Canelo just looking for most $$$$$$$$ u mayweather fans should know better. I think canelo beats trout easy but it aint ppv.boxing is all fucked up now
Yall keep saying that like we dont know that! I understand all fighters want the most money, but u have to pay your dues and earn those fights. Canelo hasnt beaten a single good opponent! Thats all I am saying. Mayweather can ask for big dollars and big fights because he is the best. At 22 Mayweather wasnt only trying to fight the best fighter in the business. Cmon man. Got Em!!

It still aint happening. De La Hoya doesn't even want it to happen. How bout Canelo fight some real 154 fighters before going after Mayweather so you get some respect besides from Mexicans.

Canelo aint a bigger draw than Mayweather right now, but he's not far off! And at 22, without really fighting anyone great, he's the third or fourth biggest draw in the world. What does that say? As a boxing fan, it doesn't make sense and shouldn't be that way. But, it's the truth and it is what it is.

Canelo is a big star. No question. Especially in Mexico, his numbers are mind boggling there when he fights. Not quite there yet in America but he's up there. But what does that mean exactly...Chavez for example is or was a bigger star in America than Canelo and that is backed up by chavez constantly having great numbers, even when it was against subpar opponents.

Anyways, Cotto vs Canelo will do huge numbers I'm sure. Trout is going to just have to keep on winning. After Bernard Hopkins finally got his shot and beat the Puerto Rican legend in Tito Trinidad, it took about three years before Hopkins got that really big payday, which was Oscar. So Trout should look at Hopkins as an example. Don't stress if the big fight doesn't come, just keep winning and it will come to you eventually.
