Reports: Kansas City Chiefs LB Jovan Belcher Killed His Girlfriend, Drove To The Chiefs Practice Facility, And Killed Himself [Updating]

10:47 a.m.: The full report, with everything we know at the moment, from KCTV in Kansas City:

Police are investigating two deadly shootings Saturday morning that they said are related.

The shootings involve a Chiefs player and his girlfriend.

The first shooting was reported about 8 a.m. at a home near 54th Street and Chrysler Avenue. The second shooting was reported a short time later at a Chiefs practice facility located on the Arrowhead facility.

Officials said the Chiefs player shot and killed his girlfriend and then drove to the practice facility where he shot and killed himself.

It's unknown if people were at Arrowhead or any of its surrounding facilities at the time.​

Belcher was a four-year veteran, and had started 44 of the team's 59 games during that span.

Police spokesman Darin Snapp told USA TODAY that a Chiefs player killed his girlfriend earlier in the morning and then drove to Arrowhead Stadium where he shot himself in front of Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel.

Snapp said police first responded to a call at 7:50 a.m. CT that a woman had been shot. She was taken to the hospital where she died. At around 8:10 a.m., Snapp said police received a call from Arrowhead Stadium security command reporting that a black male was in the parking lot armed with a gun. Officers observed the man with the gun held to his head

"The suspect walked in the opposite direction and shot himself," Snapp said. "After talking to Crennel and Pioli, they said he was a good kid. He thanked them for everything they had done for him before walking away."

Chiefs tackle Eric Winston could not confirm Belcher's identity but told USA TODAY Sports he was at the facility when the shooting occurred.

"It's just all very sad. There's rumors going around. But I don't really know. We're still finding out," Winston said. "We were all just shuttled out of there pretty fast.'

"Like a lot of guys I'm still trying to talk to a lot of the guys.''

The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Carolina Panthers at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday. The Charlotte Observer's Joe Person tweeted that the NFL has advised the Panthers to travel as planned.

And Chiefs fans were wondering how it can get worse for Chiefs Nation.

It just did. I understand that these issues are seperate. The losing season and Belcher killing this lady, then himself. But it makes you wonder how much this losing season has taken a toll on these players to a point like this. I feel really bad for Romeo and Pioli because they witnessed it and tried to talk him out of it.

at the end of the day, these players are men with real lives and real emotion.

Jevon did 2 very selfish things, killed a female before taking his own life. And leaving his new born child without parents.

Reports are he murdered his babies mom I front of his own mother.

Sad.

yeah, alot of NFL players don't care about winning or losing. its just a check for them. i feel bad for the baby and the girlfriend but Jovan can burn in hell. i don't care what problems he had with her he could be a man and walk away or just kill him self.

So I think Jackie was banging her, you know she was doing it to get Belcher heated. Not saying her actions excuse the actions of Belcher but some women know exactly what buttons to push to set a man off. I just think this girl pushed the wrong ones at the wrong time and something she never expected happened. I mean her character is a little questionable to, hooking up with Jackie Battle a teammate of her new daughters father. Also doesn't help she was out at a trey songs concert and didn't get home until the morning hours probably while having a 3 month old baby at home. Add that to this belcher guy obviously having a few loose bolts and that's how belcher turned into Rae Carruth 2.0.

My bad for this rant that is all based on pure speculation, I could be completely wrong. Just my 2 cents and like Escoe said at the end of the day "RIP to the Dead".

accidentally deleted it . I was just trying to edit it though since i just seen Jackie Battle is on the chargers now and not on the chiefs anymore. I just remember him being a chief last season.
