I saw something on TV a while ago which made me quite angry. It was about how places which serve food just throw away cooked and untouched food at the end of the day, stuff like bread rolls and sandwiches, you name it.

Why can't there be a system where you have a group which goes around to all the restaurants and cafes at the end of the day, takes away all the spare food and hand it out to the homeless.

We claim to live in a civilised and intelligent western society but the majority of the shit we do is so backwards it is beyond belief.

I know this is off topic but it's just something that came to mind.
I know for a fact that we have that system in my hometown. We even have people that drive around the city giving food and warm coffee to prostitutes that work the streets in the winter.

I've volunteered at alot of special olympics events. I remember when i was a teenager i would volunteer at a place called Agnews. It was an asylum for the insane. Once a year they would have this carnival, flee market type of event. and that was pretty much they only time they'd let them out of the facility, and it was obvious. It was real sad. i didnt know what to think. i just felt bad for them. some looked neglected and miss treated. My cousin was eating an its it ice cream, when all of a sudden some girl behind him snatched it rite outta his hand as he was gonna take a bite and shoved the whole thing in her mouth. After seeing how they treated the people in the facility, i knew i could never ever let my brother be put in a place like that. Especially since hes non verbal and he cant tell me if anyone is treating him bad. Thats why ive dedicated my life to my bro.

I've always donated clothes I don't wear anymore to my local church, and not my raggedy work on my car type clothes. I always mean to volunteer at a soup kitchen at Christmas but never do it. This year I'm makin an effort to take my 3 boys to do it with me, they need to appreciate how good they got it and understand there's folks out there less fortunate since they get fuckin Xbox,ps3 and Wii shit out the ying yang. Damn its a trip how many folks on here volunteer tho I need to step it up for real

@ Culinary School in S.F. it was NOT allowed to give all the great food we made & wasted to the hungry/homeless . The reason being it would create a line or crowd outside everyday. I wish there was a better way so the food could be given out but it would get out of hand . I still snaked bread everyday & gave it out in the tenderloin . It is also against heath code . However I work for Whole Foods now & we put extra bread & produce bagged in shopping carts out back every night for anyone who is hungry to pick up .

damn bro that sucks... my uncle was the charge RN @ Agnews for 30 years & even he said it was horrendous living conditions.

I knew a chick who lived there after they closed half the hospital, they had turned it into a section 8 housing spot. that place has always given me a creepy ass vibe. even when i worked on the site of that campus years ago when i was working for Cisco. (Cisco now partially sits on the agnew campus & shares it with Sun Micro)

thanks...its all family is really all i can say. theres alot of people that dont have family or a willing family to do whats right for them. they just put them in a place and forget about them like there nothing. and at the rate autism is going. i dont know how society is gonna handle it. cause they can only go to school till there 22, and then what? theres no alternative education after that.Nothing..they are budget cutting all the programs that help familys. what are familys supposed to do the help mental disabled family members get better... system needs to change....

you aint even lying... my mom is an RN @ a sub-acute center for terminally ill children & the amount of people who have their kids shipped here from other states & out of town is a damn shame.

granted they are the best in the country @ what they do, but these parents never come to see thier kids. EVER. Not even for Christmas.

its pretty fuckin sad.

i think about this kind of stuff too sometimes,..but its like george carlin said,...there isnt any feddy to be made off homeless people,if there was,the government would be all over it and you wouldnt see anymore bums living in the streets!....plain and simple!...if there was a system it would of been implamented along ass time ago!....

...just some food for thought!
