I have in the past, but I havent this year.

I usually try to get over to the "Family giving tree" in Santa Clara 2 times a year at least.... last year i packed 700 backpacks with school supplies for less fortunate children in 6 hours. Also have done the food kitchen @ City Team also in Santa Clara.

Feels good to help out people who need it because they are much more grateful then people who expect it.

I've done some volunteering in the past. I have tutored Math at a library for children who needed it. I even volunteered tutoring math at local community college. I've done several church volunteering acts......pancake breakfasts, holiday meals to families, assist elderly, etc. This year my wifey and I are adopting a family for christmas.

Lately, I've been thinking about taking my son to a local hospital and volunteering to help folks get to their appt's when they show up. Handicapped people more or less.....

As well, I am in a Leadership Class right now and I have to do 8 hours of community service, so this is a great thread for ideas.

tiddies might get you banned in the mood I'm in.
lol i know you're talking about me...but on a serious note, yes, i volunteer.......and part of my answer involves tiddies.

i been volunteering for the american cancer society for about 10-11 years now. from time to time, i'll volunteer at the sacramento office doing random shit...but each year, there are two big events which i volunteer for-- the making strides against breast cancer corporate kick-off breakfast (which is usually in august), and the making strides against breast cancer charity walk (annually held in mid/late october).

i've mentioned a few times here that i've had family members and friends pass away to different forms of cancer, breast cancer included. on the other hand, i'm lucky that i also family members and friends who are survivors. this is the least i can do to help raise awareness for breast cancer, and other forms of cancer.

I saw something on TV a while ago which made me quite angry. It was about how places which serve food just throw away cooked and untouched food at the end of the day, stuff like bread rolls and sandwiches, you name it.

Why can't there be a system where you have a group which goes around to all the restaurants and cafes at the end of the day, takes away all the spare food and hand it out to the homeless.

We claim to live in a civilised and intelligent western society but the majority of the shit we do is so backwards it is beyond belief.

I know this is off topic but it's just something that came to mind.
