Psn/xbla games
I think a lot of people are sleeping on the PSN and Live Arcade games. I'm making this thread so we can discuss em, recommend which ones to get, which ones to avoid, etc.
Hard Corps: Uprising (Contra) is a good title. I played the demo and I like it. It's for PSN and XBLA and costs 10 bucks or 800 points. It's made by the people who made BlazBlue (with the blessings of Konami) and there are two ways you can play this game. Like old school contra (no life bar) or like an action/rpg type game where you get a life bar, can upgrade other skills (like a triple jump), etc.
Anamoly: Warzone Earth. This is a reverse tower defense game, I liked it and purchased it for 800 points. It's not on PSN, but there are versions for android, iPad, mac, PC and one more gadget.
Torchlight. Not on PSN, but you can get it for PC. The demo reminded me of Diablo and the game drops hella loot so you're always upgrading your character (and he looks different when you change his weapons, armor, etc.) I think I might buy this one, can't remember the price however.
Sine Mora this is a XBLA and PSN title and I think they want 1200 points/$15 for it. This game is a side scrolling shooter like the old snes, genesis and arcade games. It has bullet hell elements, but the crazy thing about this game is you don't have a health meter. Well you do, but it's the CLOCK/TIMER. Time plays a very important role in this game and you can upgrade weapons and other shit. I think I might shell out the points for this one.
Outland. This is on some Metroidvania shit. It's a PSN exclusive and I copped it for 10 bucks. It took me 8 hours to get to the final boss, but instead of fighting the boss I bounced and went looking for collectables. The story in this game is weak, but the gameplay is on point, so think about Metroid, Flashback, Out Of This World, Castlevania and "polarity" games like Ikaruga. Worth the bread in my opinion.
