Xzibit’s New Album Underrated & Overlooked Through Kendrick Hype

Seriously, peoples. Xzibit just dropped a great album with his latest release, “Napalm”… a true banger that slaps front-to-back. Are we going to sit here and act like it never happened? X to the Z is a certified west coast legend in the game, one of the greatest to ever do it, and he just gave us his best album in over a decade..
I’m beginning to wonder if the Kendrick Lamar hype is so overwhelming that most rap fans have completely overlooked Xzibit’s return? Don’t get me wrong, Kendrick Lamar dropped a really good conceptual album, and it’s nice to see the west finally get some proper shine, but can Xzibit please get his? This shit right here is the go. But this shit right here only sold 3,200 in its first week…. In comparison, Kendrick is projected to sell 245,000 copies in his first week with “good kid m.A.A.d city”! That difference is truly mind-boggling. Obviously, Xzibit’s album didn’t get the same promotion, hype, and financial backing as Kendrick got with Interscope/Aftermath, but X has paid his dues and undeniably deserves better recognition. Especially after coming with an LP of this caliber.
This is that authentic west coast sound that can’t be fucked with. You can tell by listening that an honest effort was put into the making of the music, which is refreshing in todays day and age, to say the least. The production-value is extremely high (especially for an independent release) and the flows are on point, as Xzibit gets deep as ever, painting vivid pictures with his thought-provoking lyricism over hard hitting beats, guaranteed to fuck your eardrums. Definitely much better than Xzibit’s last few albums, and I’d probably go as far as sayin’ album of the year. Stand-out tracks are “1983″, “Killers Remorse”, “Louis XIII”, “Dos Equise”, “Movie”, “Gangsta Gangsta”…fuck it, the whole album is one big highlight. FINAL RATING: 8/10

like a few people said,X had his time he got his shine then made a few bad choices.you cant expect people to just rise up and treat him like hes a brand new artist.his fans complained that his last two albums wasnt that good.he gotta earn that spot back now by dropping back to back heat and prove to people hes really back.thats just the way it goes.

It is actually hella surprising to me that Kendrick is even being considered as bringing the west back, or is this popular. his sound has a hip hop sound to it even tho the west has been mainly known and famous for gangster rap. Prolly has a lot to do (everything) with dr dre co-signing but still shows how far the game has come..

im giving it a listen right now, and to me most this shit is gay. And im a big fan, i mean shit, got one his songs in my sig. But this, idk tons of very poor beat choices imo. It got some lightweight slap, but it aint no "front to back" slap

both songs with wiz khalifa suck dick... just sayin

Napalm is a terrible song imo. I hate rock-rap, and that's what the song is.

Didnt even want to check the rest of the album out because of how boring that song was to me.
Also, there was no promotion at all for the album. None. Not on TV, not on radio. Xzibit failed at self-promoting and is now suffering the repercussions for it.

Kendrick is fusion of backpack and gangsta rap. He spits that gangsta shit in a backpack type of way if that makes any sense but if you really listen to him, he does that. Just because he doesnt yell out "Fuck you nigga I rob, steal and kill. Westside! THUGLIFE BITCH!" doesnt mean he aint west coast.

And to the people saying that the album sucks, your going to say that if you skip through tracks. This album is a story and you have to listen to it all the way through and fully understand whats going on. I read some comments on the album and people say they didnt like it because it has too many interludes. Those interludes put the album and story together.

Top Dawg Ent. has the potential to change the game and bring it back to its lyrical age. With K.Dot doing numbers, it can happen and I hope it happens. Enough of this trap/bubble gum rap already. The Game already crowning him the "West Coast Nas" and Nas saying Kendrick is the future of Hip Hop.
